Aluminium Futures Face Selling Pressure Near ₹335 Resistance

Aluminium futures on the commodity exchange are trading around ₹327, struggling to break above the ₹330-335 resistance zone. Investors in metal stocks should watch these price levels as they often influence the earnings visibility of major Indian aluminium producers.

Aluminium futures are currently facing a tough path upward, trading near ₹327 per kilogram. The contract has been in a downward trend for over a month and is struggling to move past a significant barrier between ₹330 and ₹335. In technical analysis, this price band acts as a point where selling pressure tends to increase, making it difficult for the price to rise further in the near term.

On the lower side, the market is watching the ₹305 level. This acts as a support zone, a point where historical buying interest has helped stabilize prices in the past. If the contract fails to hold this support, it could signal further weakness. Conversely, if prices manage to consistently stay above the ₹335 mark, the sentiment for the commodity could shift, potentially opening the door for a move toward ₹350.

This trend in the commodity market is important for shareholders of major Indian metal companies like Hindalco Industries, Vedanta, and National Aluminium Company (NALCO). These businesses are cyclical, meaning their profitability is directly tied to the price of the metals they produce and sell. When aluminium prices trade in a downtrend, it can impact the revenue outlook for these companies. However, for integrated players that own their own power plants and mines, lower raw material costs can sometimes provide a buffer to profit margins.

Investors often look at these commodity futures to gauge the broader sentiment in the metals sector. Factors such as global industrial demand, particularly from China, the strength of the Indian Rupee against the US Dollar, and energy costs remain the primary drivers of these price moves. While technical levels provide a snapshot of current sentiment, changes in global supply or demand can quickly shift these trends.

Moving forward, shareholders may want to track whether the contract breaks above the ₹335 resistance or falls toward the ₹305 support. Additionally, monitoring updates from the London Metal Exchange (LME), which serves as a global benchmark for aluminium, will be essential, as local prices generally take cues from these international figures.
