Zydex Partners With Germany's KEIM to Launch 20-Year Warranty Paints in India

Zydex Paints and Germany’s KEIMFARBEN have launched a silicate mineral paint technology in India, offering a 20-year warranty against fading and peeling. This move aims to challenge conventional acrylic paints by shifting focus toward long-term building maintenance. The company targets the premium and high-rise segments to expand its paint and waterproofing revenue to ₹300 crore within two years.

Zydex Paints, a division of the Zydex Group, has partnered with Germany-based KEIMFARBEN GmbH to introduce silicate mineral paint technology to the Indian decorative market. Unlike traditional acrylic-based paints that often require repainting every few years, this mineral-based solution bonds chemically with building surfaces. This process allows walls to remain breathable, which helps prevent moisture buildup, peeling, and blistering. The technology is particularly marketed as a solution for high-rise buildings and hospitals, where frequent exterior maintenance is logistically difficult and expensive.

Targeting Long-Term Building Performance

A key investor angle here is the push toward lifecycle value rather than just initial cost. Zydex aims to carve out a new category in India’s nearly ₹1 lakh crore paint market by positioning these products as a more durable alternative to standard coatings. The company is backing this claim with a 20-year warranty against color fading and film failure. By manufacturing these products in India with high localization, the company intends to balance the higher performance of German technology with cost-effectiveness for the domestic market.

Revenue and Growth Strategy

Zydex is implementing a two-tier strategy to penetrate the market. The premium KEIM portfolio will be focused on large-scale, specification-driven projects such as commercial properties, universities, and high-rise residential developments. Simultaneously, the company will leverage its existing organosilicate range through retail channels to reach individual homes and smaller construction projects. Zydex leadership has stated an objective to scale its paints and waterproofing business to approximately ₹300 crore over the next two years.

Investors should note that the Indian paint sector is highly competitive, dominated by large players like Asian Paints, Berger Paints, Kansai Nerolac, and Pidilite. These incumbents have extensive distribution networks and strong brand recall. Zydex’s success in this expansion will depend on its ability to convince architects, developers, and homeowners to switch from established acrylic products to this new mineral-based technology. The key monitorables for the coming quarters will be the adoption rate of this premium category, the effectiveness of the direct-to-architect marketing approach, and the company's ability to scale production while maintaining the quality standards required for a long-term warranty.
