Tapping into India's Growing Demand

This new facility in Gujarat represents a significant strategic investment for LANXESS, particularly given India's standing as the world's third-largest lubricants market. The plant's advanced capabilities are poised to meet the increasing demand for high-performance specialty lubricant additives. By establishing a robust local production hub, LANXESS aims to provide faster response times and enhanced technical support to its clientele across various regions.

Strengthening Commitment to India

Dr. Hubert Fink, a Member of the Board of Management at LANXESS AG, highlighted India's leading role in global economic expansion. He reaffirmed LANXESS's commitment to deepening its presence and investing in India's future, aligning its long-term strategy with the nation's dynamic potential. Neelanjan Banerjee, Senior Vice-President and Global Head of the Lubricant Additives Business Unit, added that India's market size and growth prompted the company to establish an Application Technology Centre and now this production site.

Boosting Local Production and Service

The facility is designed to ensure consistent delivery and quicker response times, alongside enhanced technical collaboration with customers as demand evolves. This reinforces LANXESS's capacity to supply high-quality, innovative lubricant additive solutions through its 'local-for-local' strategy. Additionally, the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce advanced technologies to the Indian market. Third-party manufacturing for the Lubricant Additives business unit has also begun in India, part of a broader strategy to utilize the local manufacturing ecosystem.

Sustained Growth in the Region

This new infrastructure underscores LANXESS's ongoing commitment to India as a strategic growth engine. The facility supports the delivery of essential, world-class chemistries for mobility and industrial applications globally, positioning the company for sustained growth in the region. The plant was commissioned on April 27, 2026.
