Welspun Living Shares Rally 10% After Motilal Oswal ‘Buy’ Call

Welspun Living shares jumped nearly 10% as Motilal Oswal issued a ‘Buy’ rating with a target price of ₹260. The brokerage cited strong revenue growth and a successful shift to a net-cash position as key drivers. Investors are now focusing on the company's margin sustainability and the performance of its flooring segment.

Welspun Living shares saw a significant upward move on November 2, 2026, gaining nearly 10% to trade at ₹240.70. This reaction followed a new report from Motilal Oswal, which initiated a ‘Buy’ rating on the stock with a target price of ₹260. The brokerage’s outlook is supported by a strong set of financial results for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year.

The company reported a 16% year-on-year increase in revenue to ₹2,838 crore. Profits also showed a sharp recovery, rising to ₹169.66 crore compared to ₹14.86 crore in the same quarter last year. This performance has been driven by steady growth in the company's core areas, with home textiles revenue rising by 15.8% and the flooring segment posting growth of 19.3%.

A major highlight for investors is the company’s improved balance sheet health. Welspun Living has successfully transitioned to a net-cash position as of September 2026, a significant turnaround from the net debt of ₹775 crore recorded in March 2026. This reduction in debt burden is often viewed positively by the market as it strengthens the company's financial flexibility.

Motilal Oswal analysts pointed to the company's operational efficiency as a key reason for their positive stance. Gross margins saw an expansion of 113 basis points to 45.1%, while EBITDA margins rose by 563 basis points year-on-year to reach 11.9%. The brokerage projects that these margins could climb further to 13.2% by the 2028 fiscal year, aided by a better mix of products and stable profitability in the flooring business.

Risks and Monitorables

While the outlook is positive, the brokerage and market context also highlight specific risks. Welspun Living remains sensitive to the volatility of raw material prices, particularly cotton, which is a major input for its textiles business. Fluctuations in these costs can directly impact the company's profit margins. Additionally, the company has geographical and customer concentration in its export markets, which makes it sensitive to economic changes or demand shifts in those specific regions.

Looking ahead, investors may track whether the company can maintain this volume growth in its home textile segment and sustain the recent margin improvements in its flooring business. The ability to manage commodity price risks while keeping debt levels low will be a key area for monitoring in the coming quarters.
