Welspun Corp Hits Record ₹50,000 Crore Order Book

Welspun Corp reported a 13.4% rise in Q2 FY27 net profit to ₹499 crore, supported by a record global order book of nearly ₹50,000 crore. While planned expansion in the US and Jordan offers long-term visibility, investors are monitoring the stock's ASM Stage-1 surveillance status and revenue growth that trailed some market expectations.

Welspun Corp has released its financial results for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, highlighting a significant milestone in its project pipeline. The company reported a record global order book of approximately ₹50,000 crore, signaling sustained demand for its pipe manufacturing and infrastructure business.

In terms of financial performance, Welspun Corp recorded a consolidated net profit of ₹499 crore, which represents a 13.4% increase compared to the same period last year. Revenue for the quarter stood at ₹4,644 crore, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 6%. While the profit figures show growth, some market analysts have noted that the revenue growth came in slightly below certain market expectations, a factor that investors may want to keep in mind when assessing the company's immediate momentum.

A key strength of the company’s balance sheet remains its financial flexibility. Welspun Corp maintains a net cash position of ₹3,887 crore, which provides the company with the liquidity to fund its future growth without relying heavily on fresh debt. This cash-rich status is particularly relevant as the company pursues its international expansion strategy.

Welspun Corp has announced major capital spending plans, including a $115 million investment to expand its spiral pipe facility in the United States and a $125 million joint venture with Perma-Pipe in Jordan. These projects are part of a broader push to increase the company's manufacturing footprint outside of India.

For shareholders and potential investors, there are a few important monitorables. First, the stock is currently placed under the ASM (Additional Surveillance Measure) Stage-1 list by the NSE and BSE. This regulatory status is often applied to manage excessive volatility in a stock, and investors generally keep a close watch on such designations. Second, while the order book provides long-term revenue visibility, the actual execution of these projects will depend on global supply chain stability and the ability to manage freight costs, both of which remain subject to geopolitical uncertainties.

Going forward, the company’s ability to convert its record order book into faster revenue growth will be the primary focus for the market. Investors will also look for updates on the commissioning timelines of the new international facilities, as these will be essential for the company's next phase of scale.
