Tatva Chintan Q2 Revenue Jumps 76%, Brokerage Hikes Target

Tatva Chintan Pharma Chem reported a 75.9% year-on-year revenue increase in the second quarter, driven by strong demand for structure-directing agents. Following the results, ICICI Securities raised its target price to Rs 2,385. Investors should monitor whether the company can resolve current margin pressures caused by rising freight and solvent costs in the coming quarters.

Tatva Chintan Pharma Chem Ltd. reported a significant increase in its second-quarter financial performance, with revenue growing by 75.9% compared to the same period last year. This growth was largely supported by steady demand for structure-directing agents, which remain a primary product for the company. The core operating profit, or EBITDA, reached Rs 40.7 crore, marking an 83.3% increase over the previous year.

Margin Pressure and Cost Factors

Despite the jump in revenue, the company’s profit margins remained at 18.7%. This performance was impacted by localized cost pressures. Specifically, higher freight charges and the rising cost of solvents—essential raw materials used in the company’s manufacturing processes—have exerted pressure on profitability. These supply chain-related costs have acted as a drag on margins, preventing a higher conversion of revenue into profit. The company’s management has indicated that these costs may start to normalize by the third quarter of fiscal year 2027.

Strategic Expansion and Valuation

In light of the quarterly results, ICICI Securities increased its target price for the stock to Rs 2,385. The brokerage adjusted its valuation method to an EV/EBITDA model, which compares the company's enterprise value to its operating earnings. This change reflects a focus on the company's long-term strategy rather than just immediate quarterly results.

A key part of this strategy is the company's move into the semiconductor chemicals market. Analysts view this sector as a significant future growth area for the firm. Additionally, the company is continuing work on a new greenfield project, which is intended to expand production capacity. The progress of this facility will be a major indicator of the company’s ability to meet future demand.

For investors, the primary area to watch in the coming quarters will be the company’s ability to improve its margins. While the revenue growth is strong, the sustainability of profit margins depends on whether the current freight and solvent cost pressures ease as management expects. Investors may also track the commissioning timeline of the new greenfield project, as it will provide a clearer picture of future production capacity and potential revenue generation.
