Sharda Cropchem: Anand Rathi Retains Buy Rating, Target at Rs 1,200

Brokerage firm Anand Rathi has kept its 'Buy' rating on Sharda Cropchem following a 23% jump in quarterly profit. While the target price has been adjusted to Rs 1,200, the stock remains supported by a debt-free balance sheet and strong pricing power. Investors may monitor how the company manages volume recovery in key markets like Europe amidst ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.

Anand Rathi has maintained its 'Buy' rating on Sharda Cropchem, setting a revised target price of Rs 1,200 for the stock. This update comes after the company delivered its second-quarter results for fiscal year 2027, highlighting a resilient performance despite some volume challenges.

During the quarter, Sharda Cropchem reported a 13% year-on-year increase in revenue, reaching Rs 1,052 crore. Profit after tax saw a stronger growth of 23%, rising to Rs 92 crore. These results were driven largely by an 18.5% increase in product prices and favorable foreign exchange movements, which helped offset a 5.1% decline in sales volume.

While the company showed an ability to manage prices, investors should note the performance in Europe. Revenue from this region saw a 7% contraction. Since Europe is traditionally a high-margin market for the company, any sustained weakness in this region could impact profit margins if the company is unable to shift its product mix or volume elsewhere.

One of the company’s key strengths remains its debt-free balance sheet. This lack of borrowed money provides the management with financial flexibility to continue investing in its registration pipeline—a critical part of its business model—without the burden of interest payments. This stability is often a focus point for investors when evaluating the company's ability to navigate sector-wide pressures.

Looking ahead, the management has reaffirmed its revenue growth guidance of 10-15% for the full fiscal year 2027, with an EBITDA margin target of 18-20%. However, achieving these targets depends on several variables. The company faces risks related to seasonal weather patterns, geopolitical instability, and potential delays in the regulatory process for approving new molecules. Investors may track the company’s ability to improve sales volumes in key geographies and the progress of its new product registrations in the coming quarters.
