Sai Life Sciences Gets 'Buy' From Prabhudas Lilladher With ₹1,620 Target

Brokerage firm Prabhudas Lilladher has initiated coverage on contract research and manufacturing company Sai Life Sciences with a ₹1,620 price target. The firm expects significant growth in revenue and profit by 2029, fueled by an ₹11-13 billion capital expansion plan. Investors should watch how effectively the company manages this spending and its ability to navigate the competitive global outsourcing market.

Prabhudas Lilladher has started covering Sai Life Sciences, issuing a buy rating and assigning a price target of ₹1,620 per share. The brokerage believes the company's position as an integrated Contract Research, Development, and Manufacturing Organization (CRDMO) allows it to capture value at every stage of the drug development lifecycle, from early discovery to final commercial manufacturing. This model is seen as a key advantage as global pharmaceutical firms continue to outsource more of their research and production work.

The brokerage anticipates strong financial growth for the company over the next few years. Analysts project a compounded annual growth rate of 21% in revenue and 26% in net profit through the 2029 financial year. A major driver for this expected growth is the company's aggressive expansion strategy. Management has earmarked between ₹11 billion and ₹13 billion for capital spending by the end of the 2027 financial year. This investment is intended to boost production capacity and deepen ties with existing long-term clients in the pharmaceutical industry.

While the expansion plans are ambitious, investors should keep a close eye on execution risks. Large capital spending projects can put pressure on a company’s financial flexibility. The return on these investments will depend on the company’s ability to secure new high-value projects and maintain high capacity usage levels. Additionally, the pharmaceutical manufacturing sector is highly regulated. Any issues, such as delays in facility inspections by global health authorities or changes in client demand for outsourced services, could impact the company's performance.

From a competitive standpoint, the CRDMO sector in India includes several established players. Sai Life Sciences will need to maintain its focus on process chemistry and technical expertise to differentiate itself. The brokerage’s price target implies a forward-looking valuation of 55x earnings, which reflects expectations of premium growth within the sector. Looking ahead, the most important updates for investors will be the progress on the current capital expenditure projects, the ability to maintain profit margins amid expansion, and the success of the company in scaling its small molecule outsourcing business to meet the projected growth targets.
