Religare Broking: Bullish View on Apollo, MCX; Bearish on TCS

Brokerage firm Religare has identified technical setups for Apollo Hospitals and MCX amid the Nifty's recent recovery. Conversely, it has flagged caution for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) due to sector-wide weakness. Investors should evaluate these analyst views alongside the impact of ongoing foreign institutional outflows on market stability.

Indian equity markets are navigating a period of volatility as domestic indices attempt a recovery. The Nifty recently closed at 23,446.80, while the Sensex reached 74,828. Despite this upward movement, market sentiment remains cautious as foreign institutional investors (FIIs) continue to sell, with recent outflows recorded at ₹3,810 crore. Domestic buying is helping to steady the markets, but analysts are closely watching technical levels, with the 23,600 mark cited as a key resistance point for the Nifty.

In this environment, Religare Broking has released updated views on specific stocks based on technical chart patterns. The brokerage maintains a positive outlook on Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, citing resilience in the healthcare sector. Analysts noted that the stock has moved above its key weekly averages and established a solid base after a period of consolidation. The brokerage has outlined a potential upward target of ₹9,750, with a risk management level set at ₹8,720.

Similarly, the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX) has been highlighted for its recovery trend. Analysts pointed out that the stock demonstrated relative strength by recovering from its 200-day exponential moving average, showing a V-shaped price improvement. The brokerage set a target of ₹3,630 for the stock, with a support level monitored at ₹3,245. Exchanges like MCX often see activity rise during periods of market volatility as investors hedge their positions.

On the other hand, the outlook for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) appears more cautious according to the brokerage. The firm flagged sustained technical pressure on the stock, noting that it struggled to break past recent resistance and has fallen below critical support levels. This aligns with broader challenges facing the IT sector, where global client spending remains under scrutiny due to economic uncertainties. The brokerage has suggested a potential target of ₹1,980 for the stock, with a resistance-based exit level at ₹2,130.

Investors tracking these views should remember that technical analysis reflects short-term price patterns and may not account for fundamental shifts in business performance. The primary monitorable for the broader market remains the trend of FII outflows, which can dictate liquidity. For sector-specific plays, investors may watch healthcare demand for companies like Apollo Hospitals, trading volumes for exchanges like MCX, and US/European IT spending budgets for companies like TCS.
