Prabhudas Lilladher Upgrades Kirloskar Pneumatic To Buy

Brokerage firm Prabhudas Lilladher has upgraded Kirloskar Pneumatic to a 'Buy' rating, citing an improved risk-reward profile after the recent stock price correction. While near-term operations face delays due to logistics issues in the Middle East, the company is expected to see a recovery in business momentum during the second half of the fiscal year.

Brokerage firm Prabhudas Lilladher has upgraded Kirloskar Pneumatic Company to a 'Buy' rating, adjusting the target price to ₹861. This change in stance follows a period of correction in the company's stock price, which the brokerage believes has created a more attractive entry point based on the firm's valuation models. The brokerage is now valuing the business at 30 times its estimated earnings for September 2028.

Near-Term Operational Challenges

The brokerage report highlights that the company is currently facing some operational pressure. Specifically, management noted that delayed product dispatches, largely caused by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, are impacting delivery timelines. This could result in a softer performance in the short term. However, the management team has indicated that they expect to complete pending dispatches in the current quarter, which is expected to support a recovery in momentum as the company enters the second half of the financial year.

Growth Drivers and Product Expansion

Despite the near-term logistics hurdles, the company's outlook is supported by broad-based demand. The business is seeing steady interest across key segments, including air compression, refrigeration, CNG systems, and high-margin complex gas applications.

The company is also focusing on new product lines to capture more market share. For example, the 'Tezcatlipoca' range is gaining traction in its target markets. Additionally, the company has successfully achieved its first commercial sale for 'Zeyphros' and plans to release a roof-mounted version in the next quarter, which could help expand its available market. In its core refrigeration business, the company continues to leverage its strong position in ammonia reciprocating compressors, with additional opportunities arising in food processing and coal gasification.

Strategy and Financial Discipline

A notable part of the company's strategy is its selectivity in project selection. The company is choosing to focus on projects that protect its profit margins rather than pursuing volume growth at any cost. This disciplined approach is expected to help the company navigate potential sector-wide pricing pressures.

What Investors Should Monitor

For shareholders and potential investors, the most critical factors to track in the coming months will be the speed at which the company clears its pending dispatches and executes its current order book. Investors may also want to watch for updates on new orders from the oil and gas sector and the successful commercialization of new products, as these will be vital in determining whether the company can sustain its growth momentum through the end of the financial year.
