Prabhudas Lilladher Keeps 'Buy' on KIMS, Target ₹800

Brokerage firm Prabhudas Lilladher has maintained a 'Buy' rating on Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) with a price target of ₹800. The recommendation is supported by strong revenue growth and operational expansion. However, investors may note that higher depreciation and interest costs related to new hospital facilities have led to a downward adjustment in near-term profit estimates.

Brokerage firm Prabhudas Lilladher has maintained its 'Buy' rating on Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), setting a target price of ₹800 per share. This update follows a period of operational growth for the hospital chain, driven by its expansion into new geographic clusters.

Financial performance has been a key focus for the company. In its recent results for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, KIMS reported a consolidated revenue of ₹1,340 crore, marking a 39.58% year-on-year increase. This growth is largely credited to the successful ramp-up of new units and effective capacity utilization. Furthermore, the company has taken steps to strengthen its balance sheet, notably through a ₹1,500 crore Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) conducted in June 2026, a significant portion of which was used to repay debt.

Despite the positive outlook on revenue, the brokerage has adjusted its profit after tax estimates downward by 5% to 15%. This change reflects the financial impact of higher depreciation and interest charges, which are common as the company funds its capital-intensive expansion plans. The hospital chain is currently focusing on scaling operations in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Kerala. Successfully managing the gestation period—the time it takes for new hospitals to become profitable—remains a core part of the management strategy.

Operational Efficiency and Strategic Focus

The company is also simplifying its corporate structure. On November 4, 2026, the board of directors approved the merger of its wholly owned subsidiary, KIMS Hospitals Private Limited, into the holding company. Such moves are often aimed at streamlining operations and improving administrative efficiency.

While the expansion is expected to drive a 28% compound annual growth rate in operating profit (EBITDA) through fiscal 2029, investors may want to monitor the risks associated with this phase. These include the time taken for new greenfield facilities to reach full capacity and the ongoing need to maintain high standards of care across a larger network. Additionally, the company remains dependent on its established hospitals in the Secunderabad and Andhra Pradesh clusters for a significant portion of its revenue.

Looking ahead, the key monitorable for shareholders will be the speed at which the newer facilities in Mahadevapura and Thane achieve their target operating margins. The brokerage's confidence is rooted in the company's ability to maintain a lean cost structure even as it grows, but the final outcome will depend on sustaining patient demand and managing the costs associated with newer hospitals.
