Prabhudas Lilladher Keeps Buy Rating on Crompton Greaves

Prabhudas Lilladher has maintained its buy rating on Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals with a price target of ₹294. The brokerage highlights strong growth in the Electric Consumer Durables segment, particularly BLDC fans and pumps. Investors may monitor margin pressure in the lighting division due to legacy contracts, alongside the company's export performance and strategic pricing decisions.

Prabhudas Lilladher has maintained a buy rating on Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals, setting a price target of ₹294 per share. This positive outlook is primarily driven by strong growth in the company's Electric Consumer Durables (ECD) segment, which serves as a significant revenue engine for the firm.

The company’s ECD segment recently reported 19.2% year-over-year revenue growth. This performance was largely led by a 40% jump in BLDC fan sales and consistent double-digit gains in both residential and agricultural pump categories. Additionally, small domestic appliances such as induction cooktops and mixer grinders have contributed over 20% to the segment's growth, showcasing a healthy demand for its core product lines.

While the company has seen top-line growth, the lighting division has faced margin challenges. Revenue in the lighting segment grew by 14.3% year-over-year, supported by strong demand for ceiling lights and LED battens. However, EBIT margins retracted by 260 basis points. Management attributed this margin dip to the fulfillment of pre-contracted orders that were locked in at lower prices before recent input cost increases. This serves as a reminder to investors that fixed-price contracts can sometimes lead to temporary profit pressure when costs rise unexpectedly.

To manage these rising input costs, the company implemented cumulative price hikes of 17% to 18% on fans between January and September 2026. The firm successfully passed on approximately 80% of these cost increases to consumers, indicating a strong ability to maintain demand even after price adjustments. Furthermore, the company's subsidiary, Butterfly Gandhimathi Appliances, reported a 16.6% revenue increase, reflecting continued market share gains in kitchen appliances.

The company is also focusing on international expansion, with export revenue growing 70% year-over-year, particularly in markets across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. Looking ahead, the firm expects a recovery in its solar pump business, provided the rollout of the PM-KUSUM 2.0 initiative gains momentum.

Investors tracking the stock may watch for margin recovery in the lighting division as older, lower-priced contracts conclude. The company operates in a highly competitive sector alongside peers like Havells India and Orient Electric. Therefore, keeping an eye on the company's ability to balance its aggressive export push, the integration of its subsidiary, and its overall debt levels will be key to understanding its financial health in the coming quarters.
