Brokerage firm Prabhudas Lilladher has raised its target price for Pidilite Industries to ₹1,739, citing the company's strong first-quarter financial performance. The firm highlighted robust volume growth and improved profit margins as key drivers. Investors are currently watching to see if the company can maintain these margins amid potential fluctuations in raw material costs and global supply chain risks.
Prabhudas Lilladher has updated its outlook on Pidilite Industries, raising the target price to ₹1,739 from the previous ₹1,729. This revision comes in the wake of the company's solid performance in the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, which saw double-digit growth in both revenue and profit.
In the first quarter, Pidilite Industries reported a consolidated revenue of ₹4,551 crore, a 21.3% increase compared to the same period last year. The company's net profit also rose significantly by 30.3% to ₹884 crore. A major contributor to these results was an 11.3% increase in underlying volume growth, supported by strong performance in the Consumer & Bazaar (C&B) segment, which recorded 12.2% volume growth.
Operational performance also showed improvement, with the EBITDA margin expanding to 26.3% during the quarter, compared to 25.1% in the year-ago period. While the company's management has maintained a medium-term margin guidance of 20% to 24%, the brokerage noted that the current performance reflects strong operational momentum. This has led to a shift in valuation methodology, with the brokerage now using a multiple of 50 times the June 2028 earnings per share to value the stock.
Despite the positive performance, the report and broader market data highlight several risks that investors are monitoring. The cost of raw materials, specifically Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM), remains a critical factor. While VAM prices have corrected from their peak, any future volatility could impact profit margins. Furthermore, ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia pose potential risks to supply chains, which could influence gross margins in the coming quarters.
Another important factor for investors is the company’s valuation. The stock is currently trading at high price-to-earnings multiples, which can limit the potential for short-term price increases even with strong operational results. The brokerage’s 'Accumulate' rating reflects a steady outlook, but the sustainability of current margin levels remains a central question. In the coming months, investors will likely track whether the company can continue to pass on input costs or manage them effectively through operational efficiency, as well as how demand holds up in its key business segments.
