Brokerage firm Nirmal Bang has maintained a 'Buy' rating on Nuvoco Vistas, setting a target price of Rs 451, which suggests a 36% potential upside from the current price of Rs 326. Nirmal Bang Institutional Research has updated its view on Nuvoco Vistas Corporation, maintaining a positive stance on the cement maker. The brokerage has revised its target price for the stock to Rs 451, up from its previous estimate of Rs 415. With the stock currently trading near Rs 326, this new target indicates a 36% potential upside according to the firm's assessment.
Valuation and Growth Outlook
The brokerage's optimism stems from what it describes as attractive valuations. Nuvoco Vistas is currently trading at 9 times its projected FY28 operating profit (EV/Ebitda), which is a 39% discount compared to its four-year average of 11 times. Additionally, its valuation per tonne of cement capacity stands at $46, also marking a 42% discount to its long-term average of $80.
Looking ahead, the brokerage projects a steady financial trajectory for the company between FY26 and FY28. It expects the company’s revenue, operating profit, and adjusted net profit to grow at a yearly rate of 10%, 9%, and 21%, respectively. This projected growth is tied to expectations of higher sales volumes, stable pricing in core markets, and the successful execution of internal cost-saving measures.
Risks and Market Pressures
While the outlook is positive, the company and the broader cement sector face distinct challenges. Profit margins in the cement business are highly sensitive to the cost of raw materials and energy inputs, such as petcoke and coal. Any sharp increase in these costs can put pressure on the company's profitability. Furthermore, the industry is marked by intense competition, which can limit a company's ability to pass on cost increases to customers through higher prices.
Another point for investors to consider is the company’s capital spending. Nuvoco Vistas has been focused on capacity expansion and the integration of assets like the Vadraj Cement facility. While this expansion is aimed at capturing future demand from infrastructure and housing projects, large-scale projects can lead to higher debt levels and cash flow pressure if not managed efficiently.
What Investors Should Monitor
Moving forward, the primary focus for shareholders will be the company's ability to maintain its profit margins amidst fluctuating input costs. Investors may also track the volume growth trends in the Gujarat market and the company’s progress in reducing debt levels from its recent expansion cycle. The effectiveness of its premium product portfolio in sustaining healthy pricing will remain a key factor in achieving the growth targets set by analysts.
