As the Nifty marks an unprecedented eight-week losing streak and the Market Mood Index falls below 20, Nuvama Wealth has identified DLF, Adani Green Energy, and PVR INOX as potential outperformers. Analysts based these views on technical chart setups, even as broader market risks like potential rate hikes and weak sentiment persist.
The Indian stock market is currently navigating a period of significant volatility, with the Nifty index closing in the red for eight consecutive weeks—a streak not seen in over two decades. Amid this downturn, the Market Mood Index has dipped below the 20 mark, signaling a state of extreme fear among participants. Despite this negative backdrop, Aakash K. Hindocha, Vice President of Research at Nuvama Professional Clients Group, has pointed to three specific stocks that show technical signs of a potential reversal.
Technical Setup for Select Stocks
The brokerage report highlights these stocks based on chart patterns rather than immediate fundamental shifts. For the real estate developer DLF, analysts point to a period of consolidation over the last 12 weeks. The stock has maintained a higher-low chart structure since the start of the fiscal year and continues to trade above its key 200-day and 200-week moving averages. The firm has set a target of Rs 724 for the stock, with a suggested stop-loss at Rs 650.
Adani Green Energy is cited for forming a double-bottom pattern, a technical sign that a stock may have reached a floor after a decline. The stock has retraced roughly half of its gains from March to July 2026. Given the support found at these levels, the report indicates a target price of Rs 1,400 with a stop-loss at Rs 1,212.
PVR INOX is noted for a multi-year trendline breakout on its weekly charts. Additionally, the stock has shown a 200-week moving average crossover, which is the first time this has occurred in 21 months. Following three months of positive closing, the brokerage views the stock as potentially ready for a fresh move, setting a target of Rs 1,360 with a stop-loss level of Rs 1,180.
Market Caution Amid Macro Risks
While these technical setups are specific to the mentioned stocks, the broader market remains fragile. Investors are closely monitoring the Nifty’s performance against its 200-week moving average. Analysts have noted that a close above 22,600 is essential to confirm any potential reversal. Failure to hold critical support levels could signal further downside.
The cautious outlook is further supported by macroeconomic pressures. There is growing anticipation of a 25-basis point rate hike by the Reserve Bank of India in its upcoming Monetary Policy Committee meeting. Higher interest rates typically increase borrowing costs for companies, which can put pressure on profit margins and stock valuations. Additionally, the narrowing spread between Indian and U.S. 10-year bond yields has reached a multi-decade low of 188 basis points, a metric that foreign investors often track when assessing risk in emerging markets. Given these factors, the primary monitorable for investors remains whether the index can stabilize at support levels or if macro headwinds will dictate further weakness.
