Nirmal Bang has maintained a 'Hold' rating on Tata Elxsi with a target price of ₹3,825 following the company's second-quarter fiscal 2027 results. While revenue grew 3.4% sequentially, analysts remain cautious due to weak demand in the European automotive market and slow deal conversions, which remain key risks for the company's future growth.
Nirmal Bang has reaffirmed its 'Hold' rating on Tata Elxsi, setting a target price of ₹3,825 following the release of the company's second-quarter fiscal 2027 results. The brokerage’s stance reflects a cautious outlook, balancing the company's recent sequential recovery against underlying structural challenges in the global automotive industry.
For the quarter ended September 30, 2026, Tata Elxsi reported revenue of ₹1,055.7 crore, marking a 3.4% increase on a reported basis compared to the previous quarter. The company also reported an EBITDA margin of 21.9%, which reflects a 70 basis point improvement quarter-on-quarter. While these figures indicate a return to growth, the brokerage noted that this performance was partly supported by temporary factors, such as currency movements and cost reversals, rather than solely by organic operational expansion.
Impact of European Automotive Demand
A primary factor behind the 'Hold' rating is the company's significant reliance on the transportation sector. The transportation vertical contributes more than 55% of the firm's Software Development and Services revenue. Because this segment is heavily exposed to the European automotive market, any prolonged weakness in that region—driven by reduced client spending or macroeconomic pressure—poses a direct risk to the company’s revenue stability. Analysts highlighted that the current demand environment remains difficult, which complicates the outlook for the next few quarters.
Deal Conversion and Margin Sustainability
The brokerage also focused on the pace of deal conversion, noting that recurring delays in finalizing large contracts have made investors wary. While the company management has suggested the potential for a stronger second half of the fiscal year, persistent softness in demand and the possibility of client-specific furloughs during the December quarter could impact short-term performance. Furthermore, the sustainability of current profit margins is a point of scrutiny, as the recent gains were aided by one-off benefits that may not repeat in the future.
Investors may monitor the company’s ability to convert its sales pipeline into revenue in the upcoming quarters. The key area to watch will be whether the transportation vertical can sustain its momentum despite the ongoing economic challenges in Europe, as well as the company’s ability to protect its profit margins without relying on temporary tailwinds.
