Nifty Hits 22,231 as Analysts Eye Stocks Showing Resilience

The Nifty 50 slipped 1.64% on October 8 to hit 22,231, its lowest level since April 2025, amid global macro pressures like rising oil prices and FII outflows. While the broader market remains volatile, technical analysts have highlighted specific stocks, including PNB Housing Finance and Bharti Hexacom, that are displaying signs of strength against the prevailing trend.

The Indian stock market faced a sharp correction on October 8, with the Nifty 50 dropping 1.64% to close at 22,231. This level marks the index's lowest point since early April 2025. The sell-off comes as the market struggles with significant global macroeconomic headwinds, including Brent crude oil prices hovering near $104 per barrel, rising US Treasury yields, and persistent selling pressure from foreign institutional investors.

Amid this volatility, technical analysts are shifting their focus to individual stocks that are showing signs of resilience or constructive patterns. In market terms, this means the stock price is behaving differently from the overall market, often holding support levels or forming chart patterns that suggest potential buyer interest rather than panic selling.

Analysts have identified several names that have captured attention during this period of market instability. PNB Housing Finance has been observed consolidating within a narrow range and rebounding from its support area. Similarly, Bharti Hexacom managed to reclaim the Rs 1,450 resistance level, supported by a jump in trading volumes. In the energy space, NTPC Green Energy has shown a bullish pattern on charts, while other names like Lemon Tree Hotels, Hexaware Technologies, and V-Mart Retail are also being tracked for technical breakout signals. Additionally, BSE has drawn interest after closing above its 200-day moving average, a technical indicator often used to gauge long-term trend health.

However, investors are being reminded that identifying a technical pattern does not guarantee a price increase, especially when the broader market environment is negative. The current market weakness is rooted in factors like the ongoing geopolitical conflict involving Iran and global inflation concerns, which have historically caused erratic trading. The broader market sentiment remains fragile, with the National Stock Exchange seeing a heavy tilt toward declining stocks on October 8.

Moving forward, the focus for market participants will remain on how the Nifty holds its immediate support level near 21,950. With volatility elevated, analysts continue to stress the importance of risk management and maintaining strict stop-loss levels for any short-term market positions.
