Nifty 50 Faces 4-Day Sell-Off; Analysts Track Key Stocks

With the Nifty 50 index marking a fourth day of declines, technical analysts are identifying stocks showing potential for trend reversals. While Bharti Airtel and ONGC exhibit bullish technical patterns, Solar Industries India is flagged for downward momentum based on price charts.

The Indian equity market continues to grapple with selling pressure, as the Nifty 50 index recorded its fourth consecutive day of losses as of late October 2026. This period of market weakness has led to a wider decline in stock prices, with more stocks falling than rising on the National Stock Exchange. Amidst this cautious sentiment, technical analysts are focusing on chart patterns to identify companies that might be showing signs of resilience or potential changes in price direction.

Bullish Technical Setups

Some stocks have caught the attention of analysts due to favorable chart formations despite the broader market's weakness. Bharti Airtel has been highlighted for breaking out of a falling trend channel. The stock has been trading above its 20-day moving average, a technical indicator often used to suggest a shift toward an upward trend. Similarly, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has been noted for signs of exhaustion in selling pressure. Technical charts suggest a breakout from a chart pattern known as an inverted Head and Shoulders, which analysts often associate with a potential reversal from a downtrend.

In the financial and technology sectors, Anand Rathi Wealth and Firstsource Solutions have shown relative strength. Anand Rathi Wealth has been trading near its recent highs, reclaiming key moving averages which some technical traders view as a sign of underlying demand. Firstsource Solutions has displayed a pattern of higher bottoms on price charts, supported by indicators like the MACD and RSI, which are commonly used to gauge trend strength.

Bearish and Cautionary Signals

Not all stocks are showing positive signs. Solar Industries India is currently under scrutiny for technical weakness. After falling below critical price support levels and a long-term rising trend line, the stock is experiencing downward pressure. Analysts have flagged a negative crossover in momentum indicators for the company's futures, suggesting that the stock may face continued difficulty in the near term.

Investors should keep in mind that technical analysis is based on historical price and volume data rather than fundamental business changes. Market conditions can shift rapidly, and technical patterns may not always predict future performance. While these observations provide a snapshot of current momentum, they do not account for external factors like company-specific quarterly results, regulatory updates, or macroeconomic changes that can significantly influence stock prices. The actual performance of these stocks will depend on how the broader Nifty 50 index behaves in the coming sessions and whether the companies can maintain their technical positions.
