Nifty 50 Eyes 22,100 Support Zone, SBI Securities Analyst Signals

The Nifty 50 is testing a critical support level at 22,100 after an eight-week decline. While technical indicators suggest the market is oversold and might see a brief pause, experts are watching global trends and corporate earnings. Investors are focused on whether these support levels hold amid continued market pressure.

The Nifty 50 is facing a crucial test as it approaches the 22,100 to 22,150 zone. After a difficult eight-week period that saw the index drop by about 14 percent in 2026, technical analysts are evaluating whether the market can find a floor. Sudeep Shah, Vice President of Technical and Derivatives Research at SBI Securities, notes that the index appears oversold. This is a technical term used when a stock or index has fallen faster or further than its recent average trend, which sometimes leads to a short-term pause or a relief bounce as selling pressure eases.

While the broader market remains cautious, the Bank Nifty index is showing signs of relative strength. This index is currently focused on defending the 53,700 to 54,000 range. For investors, this area is important because it acts as a primary defensive line. If the Bank Nifty can stay above this range, analysts see potential for a move toward the 55,000 level. However, a move above 55,200 would be required to suggest a stronger recovery toward 56,000.

Market performance is uneven across individual stocks. Mankind Pharma has been trading within a range of Rs 2,430 to Rs 2,559, with signs of momentum that traders are watching for a potential breakout. In contrast, Welspun Living is showing a bearish trend, where its price strength is fading; investors are watching to see if it holds above its 20-day average price of Rs 210 to 215. Meanwhile, Mphasis has struggled to show a clear trend, remaining below important average price levels. Havells India has formed a pattern near its long-term support zone of Rs 1,010 to Rs 1,040, but this requires more trading activity to confirm if the price will stabilize.

The broader market sentiment continues to be influenced by global risks, including fluctuating crude oil prices, US interest rate expectations, and ongoing geopolitical tensions. These factors, combined with foreign institutional investor outflows, are adding pressure to Indian equities. Additionally, the market is preparing for the upcoming quarterly earnings season and central bank policy meetings, which are likely to influence future price movements. Investors should track whether the index can maintain its current support levels during these uncertain times, as failure to do so could lead to further testing of lower price barriers.
