Navin Fluorine Q2 Profit Jumps, Motilal Oswal Stays Neutral

Navin Fluorine International reported a 57% revenue jump for Q2 FY2027, supported by strong growth in its specialty chemicals and CDMO segments. Despite the robust quarterly performance and an interim dividend declaration, brokerage firm Motilal Oswal has maintained a neutral rating, citing high valuation levels.

Navin Fluorine International posted strong financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. The company recorded a 57% year-on-year rise in revenue, reflecting a successful period across its core business lines. Alongside this, earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) surged by 66%. The company’s board has also declared an interim dividend of INR 8 per share, rewarding shareholders amidst the expansion phase.

The revenue growth was broad-based, driven by strong performance across key segments. The High Performance Products division grew by 50%, while the Specialty Chemicals business increased by 58%. The Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) segment recorded the highest growth at 78% compared to the same period last year. This consistent performance across different business units indicates that the company is effectively leveraging its diversified product portfolio to capture demand.

Despite these positive results, Motilal Oswal has maintained a neutral stance on the stock, setting a target price of INR 9,460. The broker’s caution is rooted in the company’s current market valuation rather than its operational performance. The stock is trading at approximately 37 times its estimated earnings per share for fiscal year 2028. When a stock trades at a high multiple, it suggests that the market has already priced in significant future growth, leaving limited room for immediate upside unless the company exceeds these high expectations.

Investors should consider the risks that could influence future performance. The sustainability of such high revenue growth rates in upcoming quarters is a key factor. Like many companies in the chemical sector, Navin Fluorine is sensitive to raw material price changes. If costs for key inputs rise, the company may face pressure on its profit margins if it cannot pass those costs on to customers. Furthermore, the company is investing in significant capital projects. The risk of project delays or cost increases during this expansion phase could affect cash flow and project returns.

For investors, the next important monitorables will be the company’s ability to maintain the growth momentum in the CDMO and specialty chemicals segments, trends in raw material costs, and the progress of its current capacity expansion projects. Management commentary on demand stability will also be essential to track in the coming months.
