Motilal Oswal Sets ₹718 Target Price for Indegene

Motilal Oswal has assigned a 'Buy' rating to Indegene with a target price of ₹718, following a strong second-quarter performance in fiscal year 2027. The company reported a 39.5% year-on-year revenue increase to ₹11.22 billion. While the firm is net-debt free, investors should remain aware of potential risks such as client concentration and foreign currency fluctuations that could influence future earnings.

Motilal Oswal has initiated a 'Buy' rating on Indegene with a target price of ₹718 per share. This positive outlook follows the company’s robust second-quarter financial results for fiscal year 2027, where revenue and margins showed growth that exceeded analyst expectations.

Strong Revenue and Client Growth

Indegene reported consolidated revenue of ₹11.22 billion for the quarter, marking a 39.5% jump compared to the same period last year. A major driver of this performance is the Enterprise Commercial Solutions division, which continues to be the primary revenue source for the company. The firm is also successfully expanding its reach among high-value customers; the number of clients contributing over USD 1 million in revenue has increased to 59, reflecting stronger integration with large global pharmaceutical accounts.

Financial Health and Margins

A notable aspect of the company’s current balance sheet is that it is net-debt free. This reduces the financial strain often caused by interest payments and allows the company more flexibility for operational spending. The company also reported an EBITDA of ₹1.87 billion, resulting in a healthy operating margin of 16.7% for the quarter.

Risks and Monitorables

While the company has shown consistent financial improvement, investors should be aware of specific business risks. Indegene faces client concentration risk, as a significant portion of its revenue is dependent on a select group of large pharmaceutical companies. If any of these major clients reduce their spending, it could directly impact the company's top line.

Additionally, because a large share of the company’s revenue is earned in US dollars, volatility in foreign currency exchange rates remains a variable that can affect reported profits. Analysts have also pointed out that the stock trades at a higher valuation than some industry peers, which means investors may need to weigh the potential for future growth against current pricing. Moving forward, the most important items to track will be the company’s ability to maintain its profit margins, further expansion of its client base, and the impact of currency movements on its international earnings.
