Motilal Oswal Sets Rs 700 Target for P N Gadgil Jewellers

Motilal Oswal has issued a 'Buy' rating for P N Gadgil Jewellers, setting a target price of Rs 700 per share. This positive outlook follows a strong second-quarter performance where profits jumped over 50%. Investors are now tracking the company's aggressive retail expansion plans and how it manages potential gold price volatility in the coming quarters.

Motilal Oswal has maintained a 'Buy' rating on P N Gadgil Jewellers (PNGJL), establishing a target price of Rs 700 per share. This constructive view follows the company’s second-quarter financial results for the 2027 fiscal year, which showcased significant growth in both revenue and profitability despite a calendar shift in festive demand.

During the quarter, the company reported consolidated revenue of Rs 2,666.38 crore, marking a 22.4% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. Profit after tax saw a sharper rise of 52.7%, reaching Rs 121.11 crore. A key contributor to this performance was the retail segment, which delivered a 31.1% revenue growth and a 25.5% increase in same-store sales. Additionally, the company successfully shifted its product mix toward higher-margin items, with the contribution of studded jewelry rising to 11.8%, up from 9% in the prior year.

Management noted that the quarterly results were affected by the timing of the Navratri festival, which fell into the third quarter this year instead of the second. This shift reportedly deferred approximately Rs 200 crore in potential revenue. Despite this temporary impact on headline figures, the underlying demand in the organized jewelry sector remains robust.

To fund its future growth, the company successfully completed a Rs 700 crore fundraising exercise through a Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) on August 3, 2026. This capital is intended to support the company’s goal of expanding its footprint, with plans to open 8 to 10 new stores in regions such as Uttar Pradesh.

While the brokerage remains positive on the company’s long-term trajectory, there are specific risks that investors should monitor. The company’s aggressive expansion strategy introduces execution risks, where the ability to set up and scale new stores efficiently will be critical. Furthermore, the business is sensitive to volatility in gold and bullion prices, which can impact inventory costs and consumer demand patterns. The integration of the Silvostyle brand, acquired in October 2026, also remains a point of focus to ensure it contributes positively to overall earnings.

Moving forward, the primary monitorables for the company will be its ability to maintain profit margins amid shifts in product mix, the successful execution of its store expansion plans, and its performance in the upcoming festive periods. Analysts will be watching whether the company can sustain its growth momentum while managing these operational challenges.
