Brokerage Motilal Oswal has maintained a 'Buy' rating on LG Electronics India with a target price of Rs 2,000. This follows strong Q1FY27 results where the company posted a 15.5% jump in revenue and a 27.2% rise in net profit. Investors are currently weighing the company's growth in premium products against risks like competitive pricing and raw material costs.
Brokerage firm Motilal Oswal has maintained a positive outlook on LG Electronics India, setting a target price of Rs 2,000 per share. The updated target follows the company’s strong performance in the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, where it showed solid growth in both top-line revenue and bottom-line profit.
In Q1FY27, the company reported a revenue increase of 15.5% year-on-year, reaching Rs 7,233 crore. Net profit growth was even higher at 27.2%, climbing to Rs 652.8 crore. These results were supported by an improvement in operating profit margins, which rose to 12.5% from 11.4% in the same quarter last year. This margin expansion was largely attributed to a shift in the product mix toward higher-value items and improved efficiency from increased production scale.
The company’s management has indicated that growth was broad-based across all product categories. Sales of washing machines and televisions remained primary drivers, while the company also benefited from the ongoing trend of consumers upgrading to premium appliances. The business-to-business segment, which includes HVAC and display solutions, also contributed significantly. Furthermore, exports grew by approximately 30% compared to the previous year. Expansion work at the company’s Sri City facility is a key focus area, as it is expected to improve manufacturing scale and localization capabilities.
Motilal Oswal’s revised target price of Rs 2,000 is based on a valuation of 45 times the company's estimated earnings for the 2028 fiscal year. The stock is currently trading at approximately 41 times and 34 times its estimated earnings for FY27 and FY28, respectively.
While the growth outlook remains positive, the company faces several industry-wide risks. Profit margins can be sensitive to volatile commodity prices and currency fluctuations. The consumer durables sector in India is also highly competitive, which may limit pricing power. The company’s continued growth will largely depend on whether consumers maintain their preference for premium products and if the business can successfully pass on increased input costs to customers without hurting demand.
Investors will now track whether the company can sustain this double-digit growth trajectory in the coming quarters. Key areas for monitoring include the demand for premium home appliances, the stability of the B2B segment, and the firm's ability to protect profit margins against potential raw material cost pressures.
