Motilal Oswal Picks LG Electronics and Arvind as Top Buys

Motilal Oswal Wealth Management has highlighted LG Electronics and Arvind as top picks for the week, citing favorable pricing power and sector-specific growth. While analysts have set positive price targets, investors should remain aware of risks such as rising input costs and global demand fluctuations.

Motilal Oswal Wealth Management has identified LG Electronics and Arvind as key stocks to watch for the week of October 5, 2026. The brokerage has set a price target of ₹2,000 for LG Electronics and ₹670 for Arvind, banking on specific growth drivers in consumer appliances and textiles respectively.

LG Electronics Strategy and Pricing

LG Electronics India is currently focused on protecting its profit margins as it deals with the rising cost of raw materials. To offset these costs, the company implemented a 5–7% price hike across its air conditioner lineup starting October 1, 2026. Analysts believe this move shows the company's strong brand power, allowing it to pass on costs without significantly hurting sales volume during the important festive season.

Beyond immediate pricing adjustments, the company is looking to grow its presence in the premium segment, particularly in televisions and washing machines. Future revenue growth is expected to come from continued expansion at its Sri City facility, which is central to its goal of increasing local production. However, investors should be aware of potential risks. These include currency volatility, which can increase the cost of imports, and the complexities surrounding royalty payment structures to the parent company, which have occasionally been a point of governance discussion for the Indian subsidiary.

Arvind Textile Outlook

Arvind is gaining attention due to a shift in how global brands buy textiles. As international buyers look to move their supply chains away from Bangladesh, they are increasingly turning to larger, more compliant Indian manufacturers. Arvind is positioned to capture this demand. In fiscal year 2026, the company posted strong results, with consolidated revenue reaching ₹9,303 crore and EBITDA at ₹1,061 crore, maintaining a margin of 11.4%.

A major part of the brokerage's positive outlook is the company's Advanced Materials division, which is expected to grow at a 17% rate annually. While the textile industry generally faces pressure from weak export demand in some western markets, the potential for free trade agreements with the UK and Europe provides a long-term advantage.

Despite these strengths, the company is not immune to sector challenges. The textile business is sensitive to global economic health, and any slowdown in consumer spending in the US or Europe could impact order volumes. Furthermore, ongoing volatility in input costs may continue to keep profit margins under pressure in the first half of the current fiscal year.

Investors tracking these companies may want to monitor upcoming quarterly results for signs of margin stability and watch for any updates on trade policies that could boost textile exports. For LG Electronics, the key metric to observe will be whether the recent price hikes hold up against competition and if festive demand meets internal sales targets.
