Mankind Pharma Q1 Growth Fueled By Prescription Business

Mankind Pharma reported double-digit growth in its prescription segment for Q1 FY27, though overall profits were affected by higher tax rates. While consumer health revenue remained muted, the company continues to see strong momentum in its chronic therapy portfolio and international exports.

Mankind Pharma’s performance in the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year highlights a tale of two different segments. The company’s core prescription business, which excludes its consumer health division, showed strong year-on-year growth. This was largely driven by sustained demand for chronic medicines and a recovery in the acute therapy market. Despite this operational success, the company’s bottom-line Profit After Tax was lower than some market expectations, primarily due to a higher tax burden and a decline in other income.

Segment Performance and Export Expansion

The company’s Business Support Services segment has emerged as a significant contributor to overall growth, posting a 21% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth was balanced across geographies, with domestic operations growing by 17% and international revenue from this segment rising by 25%. Additionally, Mankind Pharma’s exports have benefited from recent product launches in the United States. These international efforts, combined with favorable currency trends, have helped offset some of the challenges faced in other areas of the business.

Challenges in Consumer Health

While the prescription and support services divisions performed well, the consumer health segment faced a slower quarter. This underperformance in consumer health has led some analysts to slightly adjust their earnings expectations for the company for the current fiscal year. The company is currently working through channel rationalization, which is a process of streamlining how its products reach retailers and customers. Management expects this normalization to conclude soon, which the company anticipates will support a return to steady growth in the coming quarters.

Monitoring Future Performance

For investors, the key factor to track in the coming months will be whether the consumer health segment stabilizes as expected. Additionally, the success of new product introductions in the U.S. and the impact of the ongoing channel rationalization will be important indicators of the company’s ability to maintain its growth trajectory. While the company has shown resilience in its core therapies, the impact of tax rates and other non-operating income will remain areas to watch in future quarterly filings.
