Lumino Industries IPO: Geojit Recommends Subscribe Citing Valuation Discount

Geojit Financial Services has issued a 'Subscribe' rating for the Lumino Industries IPO, which is priced at a valuation of 15.6x FY26 earnings. The issue, open until August 31, has seen a positive start with 2.58x subscription as of August 28. Investors are weighing the company's integrated infrastructure business model against risks like high debt and customer concentration.

The initial public offering (IPO) of Lumino Industries is currently open for bidding, with Geojit Financial Services providing a 'Subscribe' rating for the issue. The IPO, which opened on August 27 and will close on August 31, 2026, is priced in the range of ₹78 to ₹82 per share. As of the morning of August 28, the issue had received a positive market response, with an overall subscription level of approximately 2.58 times.

Analysts at Geojit highlight the company's valuation of 15.6 times its FY26 earnings as a key factor. This pricing is viewed as attractive when compared to the valuation of other listed players in the infrastructure and power equipment sector. The company's business structure, which integrates power infrastructure manufacturing with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services, serves as a significant part of its market strategy. This dual-revenue model allows Lumino to handle everything from power cables and conductors to complex infrastructure projects like railway electrification and water management systems.

Financially, Lumino Industries has demonstrated growth in recent periods, reporting revenue of ₹2,041 crore and a profit after tax (PAT) of ₹160 crore for FY26. The company recorded a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 20.4% in revenue and 35.9% in profit between FY24 and FY26. This performance is largely supported by national investments in renewable energy and infrastructure, areas where Lumino’s manufacturing output plays a critical role.

However, potential investors should also consider verified risks associated with the business. One of the primary areas to monitor is the company's high debt level. Out of the total IPO size of ₹700 crore, approximately ₹337 crore is earmarked for debt repayment, suggesting that reducing borrowing is a major objective for the management. Additionally, the company faces customer concentration risk, as a significant portion of its revenue is derived from government entities and public sector power utilities. This means that any delay in government spending or changes in project timelines can directly impact cash flow. The business is also capital-intensive and exposed to raw material price volatility, particularly for copper, aluminium, and steel, which can affect profit margins if costs rise unexpectedly.

As the subscription window moves toward its closing date on August 31, the grey market premium, which currently sits around ₹56, suggests optimistic sentiment regarding listing gains. Investors tracking this issue may want to focus on the final subscription data across different categories and the company's future ability to manage its working capital requirements while maintaining its current growth trajectory.
