KFin Tech Shares Rise 6% on Q2 Results and Thailand License

KFin Technologies shares jumped 6% after reporting a 29.9% rise in revenue for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year. While the company secured a new business license in Thailand, investors are carefully weighing this expansion against rising staff costs and pressure on profit margins.

KFin Technologies shares rallied 6% on Tuesday following the company’s second-quarter earnings report for the 2027 fiscal year and news of its international expansion. The company, which provides investor and issuer solutions, announced that it has been granted a Foreign Business License by the Department of Business Development in Thailand. This move is a strategic step to grow its footprint outside India.

While the market reacted positively to the expansion news and revenue growth, the financial results showed a mixed picture. KFin Technologies reported a revenue of ₹401.8 crore, a 29.9% increase compared to the same period last year. However, the company faced pressure on its operating profit margins, which contracted to 40.1% from 43.9% a year ago. The profit after tax for the quarter stood at ₹100.3 crore, representing a 7.5% year-on-year increase.

The margin pressure is largely linked to rising operational expenses. The company’s cost-to-income ratio climbed to 59.9%, up from 56.1% in the previous year. This increase is primarily attributed to a 43% surge in employee-related costs as the company continues to invest in its workforce. Investors are watching this cost trend closely, as rising expenses can impact short-term profitability even when revenue is growing.

Brokerage firm Motilal Oswal Financial Services noted that while the overall results were in line with expectations, there was a 20% miss in revenue from international solutions. Despite this, the brokerage maintained its positive rating on the stock, projecting earnings per share of ₹25.7 for FY27 and ₹29.3 for FY28. The stock, which had recently traded near its 52-week low, saw a recovery following the latest disclosures.

Looking ahead, the next key monitorable for investors will be the company's management commentary regarding its long-term cost trajectory and regional growth strategy. The company is expected to provide more details during its investor conference call, where shareholders will likely seek clarity on whether the rising staff costs are a temporary investment phase or a structural change in operating expenses that could continue to weigh on margins.
