KEI Industries Gets 'Buy' From Geojit With Rs 4,500 Target

Brokerage firm Geojit Financial Services has upgraded KEI Industries to a 'buy' rating, setting a target price of Rs 4,500. This follows strong Q2 FY27 results where revenue climbed 38.5% year-on-year to Rs 3,776 crore, supported by robust growth in the domestic wires and cables segment.

KEI Industries has captured attention after brokerage firm Geojit Financial Services upgraded the stock to a 'buy' rating, projecting a target price of Rs 4,500. This move comes following the company’s strong financial performance for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year.

The company reported a revenue of Rs 3,776 crore for the quarter, marking a 38.5% increase compared to the same period last year. A significant portion of this growth comes from the domestic wires and cables segment, which accounted for approximately 96.4% of total quarterly revenue. The domestic business alone saw a 45.8% rise, reflecting healthy demand from the real estate and infrastructure sectors.

A key driver for this performance has been the company’s distribution network. Sales through its dealer-distributor channels grew by 50.5% year-on-year, currently making up nearly 59% of total sales. This reach has helped the company maintain a stable business foundation despite broader market fluctuations. Profitability also improved during the quarter, with EBITDA rising 39.8% to Rs 377 crore and profit after tax growing by 29% to Rs 262 crore. Operating margins saw a modest improvement of 10 basis points to reach 10%.

While the company has shown consistent growth, investors should also consider the broader sector context. The wire and cable industry in India is highly competitive, with major peers like Polycab India and Havells India also vying for market share. These companies often face similar challenges related to raw material costs and demand cycles.

In its analysis, the brokerage highlighted potential risks that investors should monitor. Commodity price volatility, particularly in copper and aluminum, remains a significant factor that can influence profit margins. Additionally, the company faces execution risks related to large infrastructure projects. Any unexpected delays or cost increases in these projects could impact financial performance.

Moving forward, the primary monitorable for investors will be the sustainability of margins and demand levels. The company's ability to continue expanding its dealer-distributor network will be crucial for maintaining its market position against larger competitors. Future updates on project execution timelines and raw material price trends will provide more clarity on whether the company can meet these growth expectations.
