Jubilant Ingrevia Q2 EBITDA Jumps 57%; Brokerage Lowers Target

Jubilant Ingrevia reported a 57% year-on-year rise in second-quarter EBITDA to Rs 2.1 billion, supported by better margins. Despite this, analysts have lowered the stock's target price to Rs 900, citing uncertainty over a major agro-chemical contract and future volume visibility.

Jubilant Ingrevia reported a strong second quarter for the 2027 fiscal year, with consolidated EBITDA reaching Rs 2.1 billion. This represents a significant 57% increase compared to the same period last year and a 7% improvement over the previous quarter. The company’s performance surpassed market expectations, largely driven by a margin expansion of 314 basis points, taking the EBITDA margin to 15.2%.

Operational Performance and Drivers

The growth in margins was supported by the company's Nutrition and Health Solutions segment, which saw a gain of 280 basis points, and the Chemical Intermediates segment, which reported a rise of 697 basis points. The firm benefited from increased production of human and cosmetic-grade Vitamin B3, alongside higher pricing for its Niacinamide and Acetyls portfolios. Management also attributed some of this success to favorable market conditions, including capacity closures by competitors in Europe, which helped the company improve its market position.

The company has reaffirmed its guidance for the full year, projecting EBITDA between Rs 7.5 billion and Rs 8 billion. While operational performance remains strong, the company is also focused on expanding its presence in fine chemicals for the personal care industry, which is intended to provide a steady stream of revenue.

Strategic Challenges and Outlook

Despite the positive quarterly results, the company faces uncertainty regarding a significant agro-chemical contract. An ongoing commercial reset by the innovator in this space has created a level of uncertainty regarding future order volumes. Because of this, analysts have adjusted their projections, with expectations for fiscal year 2028 EBITDA and profit being lowered by 4% and 7%, respectively.

Following these revisions in volume visibility, brokerage firm Anand Rathi adjusted its price target for the stock to Rs 900 from the previous Rs 980, while maintaining its earlier rating. The adjustment reflects a move toward more conservative forecasts, accounting for the potential normalization of short-term pricing benefits in certain product segments.

Investors may look to monitor the clarity regarding the agro-chemical contract, as it remains a key factor for the company's future growth visibility. Additionally, the ability of the company to sustain these margin levels, given the potential for pricing normalization in the coming quarters, will be important to watch.
