ICICI Securities Sets Rs 1,445 Target on Indigo Paints

ICICI Securities has issued a 'Buy' rating on Indigo Paints with a target price of Rs 1,445. This follows the company's strong Q1 FY27 results, where net profit rose 61% year-on-year. Investors are tracking the firm's expansion in waterproofing and new plant capacity, while balancing these plans against competitive market pressure and high working capital needs.

Indigo Paints has received a 'Buy' rating from ICICI Securities, with the brokerage setting a target price of Rs 1,445 for the stock. This outlook is supported by the company’s recent financial performance and strategic moves to capture a larger share of the decorative paints market. The update comes just days after the company reported its earnings for the first quarter of the 2027 financial year.

The company’s performance in the June quarter showed strong growth. Consolidated revenue from operations stood at Rs 369.7 crore, marking a rise of approximately 20% compared to the same period last year. Profitability also saw a significant increase, with consolidated net profit jumping 61% to Rs 41.75 crore. The company maintained steady operating margins, with standalone margins at 17.7% and consolidated margins at 16.8% for the quarter.

Several factors are fueling this growth. Indigo Paints is actively expanding its dealer network to ensure its products reach more customers. Additionally, the company’s move into the waterproofing segment through its subsidiary, Apple Chemie, has been a key driver. To meet expected demand during the upcoming festive season, the company is also scaling up its manufacturing capabilities, specifically through its new plant in Jodhpur.

While the growth trends appear positive, investors should consider the broader challenges facing the paints industry. The sector is highly competitive, with both established brands and new entrants vying for market share. This competition can sometimes lead to pressure on pricing and profit margins. Furthermore, any volatility in raw material costs can directly impact the company's ability to maintain its current margin levels.

Another important point for investors to monitor is the company's working capital management. Recent data shows that the company's working capital cycle has extended to 107 days. A longer cycle means that the company’s cash remains tied up in inventory or receivables for a longer duration, which can impact financial flexibility. The ability to manage this working capital efficiently, alongside the successful ramp-up of the new Jodhpur facility, will be critical. The market will likely look for updates on how effectively the company manages these operational costs while scaling its business.
