ICICI Securities Raises Metropolis Healthcare Target to Rs 675

ICICI Securities has revised its target price for Metropolis Healthcare to Rs 675 following strong Q1 FY27 results. The company reported 16.6% organic revenue growth, aided by higher patient volumes and a shift toward higher-value tests. The stock is currently trading in the Rs 570-600 range, with investors closely watching the firm's planned expansion into smaller cities and margin improvement efforts.

ICICI Securities has updated its outlook on Metropolis Healthcare, raising the price target to Rs 675 from Rs 640. The brokerage’s move follows the company's first-quarter performance for the 2027 financial year, which aligned with expectations and showcased steady operational growth.

Operational Performance and Growth Drivers

Metropolis Healthcare recorded a 16.6% organic revenue growth in the first quarter of FY27. This performance was primarily supported by a 10% year-on-year rise in patient volumes. Furthermore, the company benefited from an improved test mix, meaning a higher proportion of its revenue came from higher-value diagnostic tests compared to the previous year. Seasonal testing trends also provided a temporary boost to the company’s revenue during the quarter.

Margin Outlook and Strategic Integration

A key focus for the company remains the integration of Core Diagnostics, a process that is currently in its final stages. Management expects this integration to act as a catalyst for margin expansion, with a target to reach 25% profit margins within the next three to four years. For the current fiscal year, the company has maintained its guidance, aiming for revenue growth of 14-15% and an EBITDA margin expansion of 120-150 basis points.

To drive long-term growth, the company has announced plans to establish 400 to 500 new centers throughout FY27. The strategy focuses heavily on tier-2 and tier-3 cities, where the company aims to deepen its market presence. Additionally, management remains open to strategic mergers and acquisitions to strengthen its footprint in cities where it already operates.

Risks and Market Context

While the expansion plans are ambitious, investors should keep in mind the execution risks involved. Opening and ramping up 500 new centers in a single year requires significant operational coordination. Failure to achieve the expected utilization levels in these new locations could put pressure on the company's costs and profit margins.

Furthermore, the diagnostics sector in India is highly competitive. Pricing pressure from established peers and local players remains a constant factor that can limit pricing power. The ability of Metropolis to maintain its margins will depend largely on whether it can manage these competitive pressures while successfully completing the integration of its acquired businesses.

The next important update for shareholders will be the progress on the center rollout and the consistency of the margin expansion in the upcoming quarterly results.
