Happy Forgings: Motilal Oswal Sets Rs 2,438 Target, Sees 18% Upside

Motilal Oswal has maintained a 'Buy' rating on Happy Forgings with a target price of Rs 2,438, signaling a potential 18% upside. The report follows the company's strong Q1 FY27 results, which showed a 39% rise in profit. Investors are tracking how the firm manages input cost pressures and maintains its momentum in the high-value industrial component segment.

Motilal Oswal Financial Services has reiterated its positive outlook on Happy Forgings Ltd., setting a target price of Rs 2,438 per share. This target implies an upside of approximately 18% from the current market price of around Rs 2,074. The brokerage's confidence is rooted in the company's recent operational performance and its strategy to shift toward higher-value products.

Happy Forgings recently delivered strong financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027. The company reported a 27% year-on-year increase in revenue, reaching Rs 449 crore. Profit after tax grew at an even faster pace, rising 39.2% to Rs 91.5 crore. This growth has been supported by a steady order book, which currently stands at approximately Rs 950 crore, providing visibility for future business.

A significant part of the company’s business model involves diversifying into segments beyond its traditional base. Happy Forgings is increasingly focusing on industrial and passenger vehicle components, which often offer better margins than heavy commercial vehicle parts. As of March 31, 2026, the company maintained a healthy balance sheet, with no term debt, which provides financial flexibility for its future operations.

However, the company faces certain business risks that investors should monitor. Like many manufacturing firms, Happy Forgings is sensitive to fluctuating input costs, which can impact profit margins in the short term. Additionally, the company has significant exposure to the commercial vehicle and tractor segments. While these are important, global macroeconomic challenges, such as demand fluctuations in export markets and potential logistics disruptions, can influence performance. The ability to manage these costs while scaling up new product lines will be a key factor for profitability.

Looking ahead, market participants will likely track the company’s execution of its existing order book and its progress in expanding into new high-value industrial applications. Sustaining EBITDA margins above the current levels, despite potential raw material price volatility, remains a primary area of focus for the quarters to come.
