HFCL Hits 3rd Upper Circuit; Stock Under NSE Watch

HFCL Limited stock locked in a 5% upper circuit for the third consecutive session, reaching ₹238.37. The rally follows a sharp turnaround in Q1 profit and a record order book of ₹26,665 crore. Despite the gains, the company remains under the NSE's Stage 4 surveillance, which tracks stocks with abnormal price volatility.

Shares of HFCL Limited extended their winning streak on Thursday, locking into a 5 percent upper circuit at ₹238.37 on the National Stock Exchange. This marks the third straight session where the stock has hit the upper limit, moving against the trend of the broader market, which has faced significant pressure.

The rally in the telecommunications equipment manufacturer's stock comes amid a notable surge in trading interest. On Thursday, trading volumes climbed to 16 million shares, a sharp increase from the 3.4 million shares recorded in the previous session. Year-to-date in 2026, the stock has delivered returns of 245 percent, standing out even as the Nifty 50 index has declined.

Financial Turnaround and Growth

The recent stock price movement follows a strong financial performance in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027. The company reported a net profit of ₹245.64 crore, a major recovery from the net loss of ₹29.30 crore reported in the same period last year. Revenue also saw a significant jump, rising to ₹1,914.98 crore, which represents a nearly 120 percent increase year-on-year.

Investors are also tracking the company's order book, which currently stands at a record ₹26,665 crore. This figure is roughly five times the company's total revenue for the entire 2026 financial year, suggesting a strong pipeline of work for the coming quarters.

Regulatory Monitoring

While the stock has seen strong momentum, it remains placed under the NSE’s Long-Term Additional Surveillance Measure (LT ASM) Stage 4. This regulatory designation is applied to stocks that show abnormal price volatility and high levels of speculative trading activity. It is not an indication of any wrongdoing by the company, but it serves as a mechanism to alert investors that the stock price is moving rapidly and may carry higher risk due to its high volatility. Under this stage, regulatory restrictions on trading, such as higher margin requirements, may be in place to curb excessive speculation.

For investors, the primary monitorable in the coming months will be the execution of the large order book. The ability of the company to convert these orders into actual revenue and maintain profit margins while managing its expansion plans will be critical. Additionally, investors may observe whether the company's performance leads to any change in its regulatory surveillance status in future periodic reviews.
