HCL Tech Shares Rise 5% After Q2 Profit Jumps 21%

HCL Technologies shares climbed over 5% on Tuesday following strong second-quarter financial results. The company reported a 21.2% year-on-year increase in net profit and announced an interim dividend of ₹12 per share. Despite strong deal bookings, the management narrowed its full-year revenue growth guidance to 2.5–4%, citing a cautious demand environment.

HCL Technologies shares rallied over 5% during Tuesday's trading session following the release of the company's second-quarter earnings for the 2026-27 financial year. Investors responded positively to the company's profit growth, which rose 21.2% compared to the same period last year. Revenue for the quarter also increased by 11.5%, reaching ₹35,620 crore.

Alongside the financial results, the company’s board declared an interim dividend of ₹12 per equity share. Investors eligible to receive this payout must hold shares by the record date, which has been set for October 16, 2026.

Operational Performance and Deal Bookings

The company’s operational health showed resilience, with total deal bookings hitting $3.3 billion for the first half of the year. This strong performance in bookings highlights the company's ability to secure contracts despite a volatile global demand environment for IT services. Management pointed to significant traction in Advanced AI projects as a key driver for recent deal wins, suggesting that the company is effectively positioning itself within the evolving technology landscape.

Guidance and Structural Challenges

While the quarterly numbers were strong, the company adopted a measured tone regarding the future. Management narrowed its FY27 revenue growth guidance to a range of 2.5–4% in constant currency terms. This cautious outlook reflects ongoing macroeconomic uncertainty that continues to influence client spending patterns across the IT services sector.

Investors are also tracking the performance of the company’s products segment, which remains a drag on overall growth. Although the IT services and engineering divisions are performing well, structural issues within the products vertical continue to offset some of the gains made elsewhere. Analysts and shareholders will likely monitor how the company manages these segments moving forward and whether the current strategy can successfully mitigate the impact of persistent macro headwinds on margin expansion.
