Gopal Snacks Target Cut to ₹375 by Emkay Amid Margin Pressure

Emkay Global has maintained a 'Buy' rating on Gopal Snacks but lowered its target price to ₹375. While the company reported a 23% rise in revenue for Q2, profits were significantly boosted by a one-time insurance gain. Investors should note that rising input costs and higher promotional expenses are creating margin pressure, leading to more cautious earnings outlooks for the coming years.

Emkay Global Financial has adjusted its outlook for Gopal Snacks, maintaining a 'Buy' rating while reducing its price target to ₹375. This update follows the company's financial report for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, where the brokerage highlighted both growth potential and operational challenges.

The company reported revenue of ₹461.5 crore for the second quarter, marking a 23% increase compared to the same period last year. While the reported net profit rose by 78.5% to ₹45.9 crore, this figure was largely supported by a one-time insurance claim gain of ₹35.3 crore. Without this exceptional item, the growth in core operational profit would appear more modest.

Margin Pressures and Outlook

Despite a strong revenue growth narrative, Emkay Global has lowered its earnings estimates for the 2028-2029 period by 5-6%. The brokerage pointed to two main reasons for this: persistent inflation in input costs and higher spending on advertising and promotions to support new product launches. These factors are currently exerting pressure on operating margins, which the company expects to stabilize in the 8-9% range for the year.

The firm also reduced its valuation multiple for the stock by approximately 10%. This change reflects broader market uncertainty and the potential for macroeconomic issues, such as weather patterns or inflationary trends, to impact consumer demand. As of early November 2026, the stock has been trading in the range of ₹246–₹251, suggesting that market participants are evaluating the company’s ability to navigate these cost pressures.

Strategic Focus

Management has projected revenue growth of over 20% for the current fiscal year, aiming to achieve this through higher sales volumes. The company continues to invest in distribution automation and is working to improve the efficiency of distributors in its core markets. Success in these areas will be important to offset the impact of rising operational expenses and competitive pressure in the snack food sector.

Investors looking at the company may want to monitor upcoming operational results to see if the business can improve its core margins without relying on exceptional items. Additionally, the company has declared an interim dividend of ₹0.50 per share, with a record date set for November 6, 2026, which is an immediate event for current shareholders to track.
