Prabhudas Lilladher has initiated a 'Buy' rating on Fine Organic Industries, setting a target price of ₹6,761 for the stock. This move comes following the company’s strong financial performance in the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year, where it demonstrated significant growth in both revenue and profitability.
Strong Quarterly Performance and Margin Gains
In the latest quarter, Fine Organic Industries reported a consolidated revenue of ₹7.3 billion, marking a 22% increase compared to the same period last year. A key highlight for investors is the company’s ability to improve its operating efficiency. The EBITDA margin, which measures core business profitability before interest, tax, and other expenses, expanded by 280 basis points compared to the previous year. This improvement was largely driven by the company’s ability to achieve higher product realizations, effectively passing on costs to customers despite a volatile input price environment.
Strategic Capacity and International Growth
To support its long-term growth, the company is actively expanding its production capacity. A major focus is the development of its Special Economic Zone (SEZ) project. The board has sanctioned a total equity infusion of ₹4.2 billion for this initiative, with ₹550 million recently invested into the subsidiary. This investment is part of a broader strategy to scale up operations and meet increasing demand.
In addition to organic expansion, the company has taken an inorganic growth path by acquiring an 80% stake in Malaysia-based Oleofine Organics for ₹802 million. This move is aimed at strengthening the company's regional footprint. The brokerage has valued the stock at 34 times its estimated earnings for September 2028, reflecting confidence in the company's future earnings potential compared to its current trading valuation of approximately 24 times.
Risks to Monitor
While the outlook is positive, the company operates in a challenging global environment. Operational headwinds, such as elevated raw material prices, continue to put pressure on costs. Furthermore, geopolitical tensions have caused fluctuations in global supply chains, leading to a rise in ocean freight costs. Investors should watch whether the company can maintain its current margin levels if input costs and logistics expenses remain high or increase further.
The future performance of the stock will depend heavily on the successful and timely commissioning of the SEZ project and the ability of the management to navigate these supply chain pressures. Additionally, tracking the integration and contribution of the newly acquired Malaysian subsidiary will be a key area for shareholders to monitor in upcoming quarterly reports.
