Emkay Global Sets Rs 12,400 Target for Craftsman Automation

Emkay Global has raised its target price for Craftsman Automation to Rs 12,400, highlighting strong revenue growth. The company reported a 47% jump in second-quarter revenue, though profit margins faced pressure. Investors are focusing on cost management and the company's long-term plans for its stationary engine segment.

Emkay Global has adjusted its target price for Craftsman Automation to Rs 12,400, reflecting confidence in the company's long-term business potential. This update follows the company’s recent second-quarter performance, which highlighted a strong surge in sales but also pointed to rising cost pressures affecting profitability.

Craftsman Automation recorded a 47% year-over-year growth in consolidated revenue, performing better than initial analyst estimates. However, the company also reported that its operating profit margin declined by approximately 2.5 percentage points compared to the previous quarter. This suggests that while demand for the company’s products is high, the cost of production is also rising, which has prevented the profit margins from expanding alongside the revenue.

Strategic Business Focus

The company continues to rely on its aluminum products division as a major engine for growth, a result of significant capital spending in recent years. In contrast, the powertrain segment, while still a core contributor, is facing a slowdown in the tractor industry. The company anticipates this specific segment will continue to contract through the remainder of the fiscal year.

Additionally, the company is restructuring its Sunbeam subsidiary. This involves removing low-margin business units and cutting off loss-making accounts. This move is aimed at improving operational efficiency and focusing resources on more profitable ventures.

Challenges and Future Targets

Craftsman Automation is currently navigating a tough environment characterized by higher energy, labor, and commodity costs. These factors have put pressure on profit margins. The company is in the process of negotiating with customers to adjust aluminum prices, a step intended to help offset these rising costs. These negotiations are expected to be resolved within the next two quarters.

Looking ahead, the company has set a target of achieving $100 million in annual revenue from its stationary engine segment by the 2030 fiscal year. The company expects to reach between 30% and 50% of this goal between 2028 and 2029, supported by a substantial order book.

For investors, the key monitorables moving forward will include the outcome of aluminum price negotiations and how quickly the company can stabilize its profit margins. Watching the demand trends in the tractor segment against the growth of the stationary engine business will also provide a clearer picture of the company’s future performance.
