Dixon Tech Rallies 11% as Emkay Initiates Buy With ₹16,400 Target

Dixon Technologies shares jumped 11% following second-quarter results that showed strong revenue growth but a decline in net profit. Emkay Global initiated a 'Buy' rating with a ₹16,400 target, citing long-term growth potential. Investors should note that the profit drop was largely due to lower investment gains, while operational margins remain under pressure.

Dixon Technologies shares rallied by approximately 11% on Monday, November 2, 2026, following the release of the company's financial results for the second quarter of the 2027 fiscal year. Amid this positive market reaction, brokerage firm Emkay Global initiated coverage on the stock with a 'Buy' rating and a target price of ₹16,400, reflecting confidence in the company’s long-term scale and market position.

The financial performance for the quarter presents a mixed picture for investors. The company reported a significant 46.7% year-on-year increase in revenue, reaching ₹21,794 crore, which highlights strong demand and execution capabilities. However, consolidated net profit fell by 48.7% to ₹343.7 crore. This decline was primarily driven by a sharp drop in fair value gains on its stake in Aditya Infotech, which contributed ₹57 crore this quarter compared to ₹465 crore in the same period last year. Excluding this accounting factor, the underlying operational business shows a different trend.

While revenue is growing, the company is dealing with margin pressure. The EBITDA margin, which measures operational profitability, contracted by 110 basis points to 2.7% during the quarter. This compression is linked to rising input costs, intense competition, and a shift in the timing of Production Linked Incentive (PLI) benefits. The company has clarified that it expects these incentive contributions to be more significant in fiscal years 2028 and 2029, rather than the current fiscal year.

Emkay Global’s optimistic target is based on the company’s extensive manufacturing scale and strong customer relationships, which create barriers to entry for competitors. The strategy of backward integration—producing more components in-house—is viewed as a key driver for future efficiency and market share gains. Analysts are looking past the immediate margin headwinds, banking on the company's ability to onboard new clients and expand its volume.

However, investors should be aware of several monitorables. The company faces execution risks, particularly regarding the ramp-up of its joint venture with Vivo and the commissioning of new component manufacturing facilities. Additionally, if consumer demand softens or if input costs remain volatile, profit margins may stay under pressure. The success of the current strategy will depend on the company's ability to manage these costs while scaling production volume to meet its annual targets. Monitoring the quarterly margin trends and the progress of the Vivo joint venture will be important for understanding the company's path to improved profitability.
