Pune-based fintech Definedge has secured Rs 22 crore in a pre-Series A round to scale its brokerage and AI-driven trading platforms. The capital will support margin funding and expansion into US markets and GIFT City. This funding follows strong growth in its Momentify platform, which recently crossed Rs 1,000 crore in assets under management.
Definedge, a Pune-based fintech and brokerage firm, has raised Rs 22 crore in a pre-Series A funding round. The company plans to use the new capital to strengthen its technology, scale its AI-driven trading platforms, and expand its margin funding services. The round saw participation from both existing and new investors, marking a fresh infusion of capital following an initial round in late 2025.
Founded by Prashant Shah and Rajesh Badiye, Definedge differentiates itself from many traditional brokerages by leveraging its roots in investor education and market analysis. The company has built a suite of trading and analytical tools, including Zone, Opstra, Algostra, and Momentify. These platforms cater to different segments of the market, ranging from systematic strategy backtesting to no-code algorithmic trading. The Momentify platform, in particular, has seen rapid adoption, crossing Rs 1,000 crore in assets under management within 15 months of launch. The company has set an internal target to grow this to Rs 5,000 crore over the next two years.
Over the past 15 months, the firm has opened approximately 60,000 demat accounts, which the founders attribute largely to its educational approach rather than heavy advertising. The user base has expanded by 125% over the last 14 months, suggesting a growing interest in its specialized product offerings among retail traders.
The firm is now looking toward international expansion. It is currently working to secure full membership in GIFT City, which would allow it to offer international market data and services to Indian users. Following this, the company plans to enter overseas markets, with the United States as its primary target. By integrating AI and automation, Definedge aims to build a comprehensive ecosystem that combines research, strategy execution, and user learning in one place.
While the company has shown rapid growth in a short time, it operates in a highly competitive Indian brokerage market dominated by established players. The shift from an education-led model to a full-service brokerage model involves operational challenges, including the need to maintain technology uptime and manage regulatory compliance as it scales. Investors and users will monitor how the company balances its ambitious goal of international expansion with the need to maintain quality of service in its core domestic market.
