Choice Institutional Equities Starts Coverage On Sambhv Steel Tubes With Rs 210 Target

Choice Institutional Equities has initiated coverage on Sambhv Steel Tubes with a 'Buy' rating and a price target of Rs 210. The brokerage highlights the company's 3.4x capacity expansion and strong demand from government infrastructure spending as key growth drivers for the pipe manufacturer.

Choice Institutional Equities has started tracking Sambhv Steel Tubes, assigning the stock a 'Buy' rating. The brokerage set a target price of Rs 210, pointing to the company's major expansion plans. This follows a period where the stock has traded around the Rs 154 level.

The growth thesis centers on a 3.4x increase in production capacity. A significant part of this plan involves integrating Hot-Rolled coil production. By manufacturing its own coils, the company aims to move up the value chain rather than just acting as a pipe processor. This transition is expected to help the firm secure better margins and reduce reliance on outside suppliers.

The ERW (Electric Resistance Welded) pipes and tubes segment remains the company's backbone, expected to contribute nearly half of its total revenue by fiscal year 2026. This segment is benefiting from a broader trend of high government spending on infrastructure, which boosts demand for steel products across India.

While the brokerage report is optimistic, it also noted risks that could impact these projections. A primary concern is the execution of the new facility at Kesda. Any delay in commissioning this project could push back the company's growth plans. Additionally, the Indian steel sector faces ongoing pressure from cheap imports. If higher volumes of imported steel continue to enter the domestic market, it could limit the company's ability to maintain or improve its profit margins.

Investors monitoring the company may want to focus on the commissioning timeline of the new production capacity. Furthermore, trends in steel import data and the company's ability to maintain profitability in the face of fluctuating raw material costs will be important areas to track in upcoming quarterly results.
