CG Power and Industrial Solutions reported an 85% rise in order inflows to ₹7,800 crore for the fiscal second quarter. The company’s total order book has reached ₹23,600 crore, supported by strong demand for power equipment. Investors are now tracking the execution of this order book and the timeline for its semiconductor assembly unit to reach profitability.
CG Power and Industrial Solutions reported a significant rise in new business for the second quarter, with order inflows jumping 85% year-on-year to ₹7,800 crore. This growth has pushed the company’s total order book to ₹23,600 crore, signaling sustained demand for electrical equipment across the country.
The power systems division served as the main contributor to this performance. Recent investments in expanding capacity for transformers and switchgear have helped the company address higher requirements from infrastructure projects. These components are critical for power distribution and grid stability, which remain high-growth areas in the Indian industrial sector.
While the power division showed strength, the company’s industrial segment faced some pressure, particularly within the railway business. Despite this localized weakness, the company managed to maintain stable profit margins. This was achieved through a combination of targeted price changes and changes in the product mix, which helped offset the challenges in the rail segment.
A key focus for the company is the CG-SEMI unit, which marks its entry into the semiconductor assembly and test business. This project is a long-term strategic bet, and management has outlined a goal to curtail losses at this unit by the 2028 fiscal year. As this facility is relatively new, its performance will depend on the successful ramp-up of operations.
Looking ahead, the company’s financial trajectory will likely depend on its ability to execute the large volume of orders currently on its books. The successful integration and utilization of the newly added manufacturing capacity will also be an important factor. Investors tracking the stock may monitor the progress of project commissioning and the management's efforts to balance growth in the power division with the stabilization of its newer business ventures.
