Britannia Target Set at Rs 6,046 by Prabhudas Lilladher

Prabhudas Lilladher has reaffirmed a positive stance on Britannia Industries, setting a price target of Rs 6,046. While analysts point to 13% volume growth as a key driver, they also highlight margin compression due to rising raw material costs. Investors are now tracking how the company balances price hikes with consumer demand in the current inflationary environment.

Prabhudas Lilladher has maintained its 'Buy' rating on Britannia Industries, adjusting its target price to Rs 6,046. The brokerage firm projects the FMCG company will deliver a 15.4% compound annual growth rate in earnings per share through the 2029 fiscal year. This outlook is based on the company's ability to maintain strong sales volumes, which reached 13% growth in the second quarter of the current fiscal year.

The company’s performance in recent months highlights a pivot toward modern distribution channels. Sales from e-commerce, quick commerce, and modern trade outlets now account for approximately 7% of total revenue. This shift in sales strategy is helping the brand reach new customer segments faster than traditional retail channels, which remains a key area of focus for the management team.

Despite the positive volume growth, the company faces significant pressure on profitability. In the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, consolidated EBITDA margins narrowed to 18.3%, down from 19.7% in the same period a year ago. Analysts attribute this decline primarily to persistent raw material inflation. While the management has implemented price increases of roughly 3.5%, this has only offset about half of the total cost inflation incurred by the business.

For investors, the central concern involves how the company will manage these costs without hurting sales. With the stock currently trading in the Rs 4,700 to Rs 4,980 range, the market is evaluating whether Britannia can pass on more costs to consumers without losing its competitive edge or seeing a dip in demand. The brokerage noted that the current valuation, trading at roughly 32.6 times forward earnings, provides a buffer for shareholders, but the ability to protect profit margins remains the most critical factor.

The next few quarters will be important to watch for signs of margin recovery. Investors will likely look for updates on raw material prices and whether the management decides to initiate further price adjustments. If commodity costs stabilize, it could relieve the pressure on the bottom line. Conversely, if inflation persists, the pace at which the company successfully executes its pricing strategy will determine its financial performance in the coming year.
