Blue Jet Healthcare Revenue Falls 17% in Q1 FY27

Blue Jet Healthcare reported a 17% drop in revenue for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, largely due to a sharp decline in its pharmaceutical intermediates segment. Despite the dip, the company saw growth in its contrast media and sweetener divisions. Investors are now tracking whether these segments can sustain growth as the pharmaceutical intermediates business shows signs of sequential recovery.

Blue Jet Healthcare reported a revenue decline of 17% year-on-year to INR 2.9 billion for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027. This performance was primarily impacted by a 43% drop in the pharmaceutical intermediates segment, which historically accounts for about 41% of the company's total sales. Management and market observers attributed this contraction to a high base effect from the previous year, as the segment faced significant volatility.

Segment Performance and Recovery Signs

While the pharmaceutical intermediates business saw a sharp decline, other areas of the company showed resilience. The contrast media segment, which contributes 40% to the total revenue, recorded a 19% year-on-year growth. Additionally, the high-intensity sweeteners division grew by 14% compared to the same period last year. On a positive note, the pharmaceutical intermediates segment showed sequential improvement in the first quarter of FY27. This suggests that the customer inventory destocking phase might be normalizing, potentially providing a more stable foundation for the coming quarters.

Financial Context and Market Outlook

Looking ahead, financial projections suggest a focus on efficiency to drive future earnings. Analysts at Motilal Oswal have projected a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19% for revenue, 28% for EBITDA, and 25% for Profit After Tax (PAT) for the period between FY26 and FY28. These estimates incorporate adjustments for share dilution resulting from a recent Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP). Based on these growth expectations, the stock is currently being valued at approximately 34 times its estimated earnings per share for FY28.

For investors, the primary concern remains the volatile nature of the pharmaceutical intermediates segment. Because this division makes up a large portion of total revenue, fluctuations here significantly impact the overall financial health of the business. Future monitorables include whether the contrast media and sweetener segments can maintain their growth momentum and if the sequential recovery in pharmaceutical intermediates continues in the following quarters. Investors will also look to future earnings reports to see if the projected EBITDA margin expansion materializes as planned by the company.
