Brokerage firm Prabhudas Lilladher has increased its target price for BEML shares to Rs 2,011. The update follows the company's improving financial performance in the first quarter of FY27 and a strong order book driven by the rail and defence segments.
Prabhudas Lilladher has adjusted its target price for BEML shares, setting it at Rs 2,011 compared to the previous Rs 1,940. The brokerage maintains an 'Accumulate' rating on the stock, a move that suggests a positive outlook based on the company's current business trajectory and order visibility. This target revision follows the company's financial results for the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year.
In the first quarter ending June 30, 2026, BEML showed signs of an operational turnaround. The company reported a net loss of Rs 27.01 crore, which is a significant improvement when compared to the loss of Rs 64.11 crore recorded in the same quarter of the previous year. Revenue for the period increased by approximately 29% year-on-year to Rs 820 crore. This performance was largely driven by robust activity in the Rail & Metro and Defence segments, although the Mining business faced some headwinds and experienced a decline during the quarter.
BEML's future prospects are supported by a substantial order book, which stood at approximately Rs 16,284 crore as of June 30, 2026. This amount is roughly 3.6 times the company's revenue over the past twelve months, providing a clear line of sight for future work. The Rail & Metro segment remains the primary contributor to this order book. Additionally, the company is diversifying its portfolio, evidenced by a recent order from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for LCH fuselage aerostructures valued at Rs 184.25 crore.
While the order book provides confidence, the brokerage highlighted key monitorables for investors. A significant portion of the company's long-term growth depends on its ability to convert a large pipeline of potential orders into confirmed, profitable contracts. Investors may also want to observe if the company can maintain stable profit margins in the face of high finance costs and potential supply chain volatility. Execution speed is another critical factor, as any delays in project delivery could impact the company's earnings. The successful completion of the current bidding pipeline remains the most significant driver for BEML's performance in the coming quarters.
