Axis Securities Starts Coverage on Indegene With ₹705 Target

Axis Securities has initiated coverage on Indegene with a 'Buy' rating, setting a target price of ₹705 per share. The brokerage highlights the company's niche position in digital life sciences and expects its AI-driven solutions to significantly boost growth through 2029.

Axis Securities has initiated research coverage on digital life sciences firm Indegene, assigning a 'Buy' rating with a target price of ₹705 per share. The brokerage suggests an 18% upside potential from current levels, banking on the company’s specialized approach to servicing global biopharmaceutical clients. Unlike traditional IT service firms, Indegene focuses specifically on regulated workflows such as medical affairs, pharmacovigilance, and clinical trials.

The brokerage expects Indegene to see a financial boost as it scales its AI-driven solutions. By integrating Generative AI into commercial and medical processes, the company aims to become a core part of its clients' operations rather than a standard vendor. The outlook includes a projected compound annual growth rate of 25% in revenue and 26% in profit after tax between fiscal years 2026 and 2029.

A key growth strategy noted by the brokerage is the company’s effort to expand business with clients outside its top 20 list. Diversifying this client base is crucial for long-term stability.

However, investors should be aware of the inherent risks in this sector. Indegene operates in the highly regulated global healthcare market, where shifting regulations can impact operational requirements. Additionally, like many specialized service providers, the company faces risks related to client concentration. High dependence on a few large global pharmaceutical clients can create revenue volatility if any major customer reduces their spending or changes vendors. Successful growth will depend on how effectively the company can execute its strategy, manage expansion costs, and maintain profit margins while scaling its newer AI-based service offerings.

The key monitorable for investors will be the company’s ability to win and retain business with mid-sized biopharma firms, alongside its success in deploying AI tools without significant cost overruns.
