Ardee Industries IPO Opens: Key Details, Valuations, and Risks

Ardee Industries launched its ₹426 crore IPO on August 5, 2026, with a price band of ₹50–₹53 per share. The issue remains open until August 7, drawing mixed views from brokerages. While analysts point to growth in the lead recycling sector, investors should weigh risks such as high customer concentration and volatile raw material prices.

Ardee Industries commenced its Initial Public Offering (IPO) on August 5, 2026, aiming to raise ₹425.87 crore. The company has set a price band of ₹50–₹53 per share, with the subscription window set to close on August 7. The total offer includes a fresh issuance of shares worth ₹320 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of up to ₹105.87 crore by the promoters. Investors looking to participate must apply for a minimum lot size of 281 shares.

Business Model and Anchor Participation

The company specializes in the recycling of lead-acid batteries and non-ferrous scrap, serving as a critical player in the automotive and energy storage supply chain. Before the public offer, Ardee Industries raised ₹127.75 crore from anchor investors, including institutions like Bank of India Small Cap Fund and Bengal Finance & Investment. This institutional interest suggests confidence in the company’s role in the circular economy, where it recovers lead for reuse in new batteries.

Brokerage Views and Valuation

Brokerage reactions to the IPO have been split. Some analysts, including those from SBI Securities and Sushil Finance, have expressed a positive outlook. They highlight the company’s capacity expansion plans and its role in the growing energy storage sector as key drivers for long-term growth. Some reports also noted that the company’s valuation appears relatively attractive compared to other listed players in the recycling space.

Conversely, not all analysts are convinced. Pioneer Investcorp has flagged concerns regarding the valuation, noting that the price-to-earnings multiple at the upper end of the band may be steep. These mixed views highlight the need for investors to look beyond the immediate listing hype and consider the underlying financial fundamentals.

Key Risks and Monitorables

Investors should be aware of several business risks identified in the company's filings. A primary concern is high revenue concentration. The company relies significantly on a small group of customers, with top clients accounting for over 90% of operating income. Specifically, Amara Raja Energy & Mobility alone contributed more than 40% of the operating income in the last fiscal year. This dependence means that any loss of business from these key customers or a shift in their sourcing strategy could directly impact revenue.

Additionally, the business is exposed to fluctuations in lead prices. While the company utilizes a hedging framework to mitigate this, commodity price volatility remains a structural risk in the recycling industry. The business also relies on imported lead scrap, which adds layers of logistics and currency risk.

Proceeds from the fresh issue are primarily aimed at strengthening the balance sheet and supporting operations, with ₹220 crore earmarked for working capital and ₹22 crore for debt repayment. As the IPO process moves forward, market observers will be watching the subscription data across different investor categories to gauge sentiment before the expected listing on August 12, 2026.
