ICICI Securities has maintained a 'Buy' rating on Archean Chemical Industries with a revised target price of Rs 620. The brokerage highlighted operational cost pressures while pointing to upcoming infrastructure and semiconductor-related investments as long-term growth drivers.
ICICI Securities has retained its 'Buy' rating on Archean Chemical Industries, though it has lowered the target price to Rs 620 from previous levels. The brokerage’s latest report follows the company’s recent quarterly performance, where mixed results highlighted both revenue growth and operational challenges. As of November 4, 2026, the company's shares are trading in the Rs 431 to Rs 435 range, reflecting a significant distance from the brokerage's set target.
Operational Pressures and Financial Performance
The company's recent results showed a revenue increase of approximately 26% year-on-year, reaching Rs 302 crore in the second quarter. However, profitability was not as strong as revenue growth. The brokerage firm noted that elevated logistics expenses and high input costs in the salt segment have squeezed profit margins. Additionally, the bromine segment, a key part of the company's business, faced volume issues due to intermittent power disruptions at production facilities. Because of these persistent cost pressures, ICICI Securities has cut its EBITDA estimates for the company for fiscal years 2027 and 2028 by 8% and 5%, respectively.
Strategic Growth and Expansion
Despite the immediate cost hurdles, the brokerage remains positive about the company's long-term potential, focusing on two main strategic areas. First, the completion of road infrastructure at the Hajipir site is expected to fix the logistics inefficiencies that have burdened the company. Second, the company is moving forward with a major investment in an integrated silicon carbide (SiCSem) facility in Odisha. This new project involves capital spending of roughly Rs 10 billion to Rs 11 billion. Analysts view this expansion as a critical move for the company to diversify its business and improve its use of assets over the coming years.
Investor Monitorables and Risks
The company faces several specific risks that investors should track. The most immediate is the pressure on margins caused by high logistics and raw material costs. If these costs remain elevated, it could continue to hurt profitability. There is also an execution risk; large-scale capital spending projects like the SiCSem plant require smooth implementation to deliver returns. Furthermore, the company has reported a high promoter pledge ratio, which can lead to higher stock volatility in a declining market. Investors should also watch for updates on bromine volume stabilization and the timeline for the Hajipir infrastructure improvement, as these factors will be crucial for the company to meet its performance goals.
