Anand Rathi Retains Buy On Waaree Energies, Sets ₹3,244 Target

Brokerage firm Anand Rathi has reaffirmed its positive stance on Waaree Energies, with a revised target price of ₹3,244. The report highlights the company's focus on manufacturing integration and US market expansion, while warning investors to watch for risks related to high capital spending and project execution.

Brokerage firm Anand Rathi has reiterated its positive outlook on Waaree Energies, setting a target price of ₹3,244 per share. While the firm maintains a positive view, the target price was adjusted from the previous ₹3,333 to reflect updated market conditions and broader economic pressures.

The investment case for the company centers on its strategic push toward vertical integration. By manufacturing more of its components in-house rather than relying on imports, Waaree Energies aims to improve its cost structure and efficiency. This strategy is coupled with the company's efforts to expand its distribution footprint within India. Furthermore, the firm is positioning itself to benefit from specific manufacturing incentives provided by the Inflation Reduction Act in the United States, which creates a significant opportunity for export growth.

A key focus for the company recently has been the cleanup of its order book. The management is actively working to rationalize its backlog, which helps in managing uncertainties tied to trade measures, such as Section 232 in the U.S. market. By removing or re-evaluating riskier orders, the company aims to provide more reliable visibility into its medium-term earnings trajectory.

From a valuation standpoint, the stock is currently trading at 8.1 times its projected earnings for the fiscal year 2028 and 7.0 times for fiscal year 2029. The brokerage views these multiples as attractive when considering the company's potential for long-term growth. However, this optimism is balanced with a focus on potential problems that investors should monitor closely.

A primary risk highlighted in the report is the high capital intensity required for future projects. As the company scales its operations and sets up new manufacturing facilities, it requires large, continuous capital spending. This heavy investment strategy puts pressure on the company to ensure that every project is executed efficiently. Delays in completing these projects or cost overruns could negatively impact the company's cash flow and returns on investment.

Ultimately, the company's ability to maintain growth will depend on how well it manages its rising debt and capital requirements while scaling its domestic and international manufacturing capacity. Investors should pay attention to future updates regarding order execution timelines, margin trends, and any changes in government policy regarding solar manufacturing incentives in both India and the U.S.
