Detailed Coverage:

Global brokerage Bank of America (BofA) has initiated credit coverage on Adani Group's US dollar-denominated bonds, a move that significantly boosted investor sentiment and drove gains across most of the conglomerate's listed entities. BofA assigned an "Overweight" rating to several of Adani's dollar bonds, highlighting the group's strong fundamentals, resilient operations, and continued access to funding despite ongoing regulatory scrutiny.

This positive report led to ten out of eleven listed Adani Group companies trading in the green on Tuesday, with gains ranging from 0.5% to 3%. Sanghi Industries was the only exception, trading slightly down. The group's flagship Adani Enterprises saw a marginal uptick, while other key entities like Adani Ports and SEZ, Adani Wilmar, Ambuja Cements, ACC, and NDTV recorded gains of 1-2%.

Bank of America's report noted that the Adani Group's diversified asset base, spanning ports, utilities, and renewable energy, generates robust cash flows and supports credit stability. The brokerage also observed consistent EBITDA growth and moderation in leverage across the group's bond issuers over the past two years, supported by capacity expansion and disciplined operations. BofA expects entities like Adani Ports and SEZ (ADSEZ) to maintain leverage around 2.5x, and Adani Transmission/Energy Solutions (ADTIN/ADANEM) to maintain steady credit profiles.

Despite facing global scrutiny since early 2023, BofA emphasized that the group's funding channels remain robust, with continued access to capital at competitive rates. The report concluded that while unfavorable outcomes from ongoing investigations remain a risk, the group's credit fundamentals are intact. Adani's US dollar bonds have also rebounded significantly, with spreads tightening year-to-date.

Impact: This news is highly positive for Adani Group stocks and investor confidence. The 'Overweight' rating from a major international brokerage is a strong endorsement, potentially leading to further stock price appreciation and improved borrowing costs for the group. It signals renewed faith in the conglomerate's operational strength and financial management, even in the face of past controversies. Rating: 9/10
