Suryoday SFB Q2 Net Profit Jumps 150% to ₹76.5 Crore

Suryoday Small Finance Bank reported a 150% year-on-year rise in net profit to ₹76.55 crore for the second quarter of FY27. Strong loan growth and improved asset quality were the primary drivers for the performance. Investors will track whether the bank can maintain this trend in its microfinance-heavy portfolio amidst a changing economic climate.

Suryoday Small Finance Bank posted a significant improvement in its financial performance for the quarter ended September 2026. The lender's net profit reached ₹76.55 crore, marking a 150% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. This jump in profitability was largely supported by growth in core banking income and better control over bad loans.

The bank's Net Interest Income—the difference between interest earned on loans and interest paid on deposits—rose by 43% to ₹368.7 crore. Additionally, the bank saw its Net Interest Margin, a key indicator of profitability in lending, improve to 7.2%. The rise in other income, which grew by over 58% to ₹126.5 crore, also contributed to the bottom line.

For investors, the most significant update is the improvement in asset quality. The bank reported that its Gross NPA ratio dropped to 2.9%, a decrease of 296 basis points from the previous year. For Small Finance Banks, which often lend to microfinance and small business segments, keeping non-performing assets low is essential for long-term stability. The Net NPA ratio also improved to 1.5%.

The bank's balance sheet showed signs of expansion, with total advances rising by 34.6% to ₹14,972 crore and deposits growing by 35% to ₹16,284 crore. Management has indicated a commitment to prudent risk management and capital allocation as the bank looks to grow its portfolio.

While the results show positive momentum, investors should continue to monitor the bank’s loan book diversification. As a lender with a significant exposure to microfinance, the quality of its loan portfolio remains sensitive to sector-specific economic pressures. The focus in coming quarters will be on the bank's ability to maintain these improved asset quality levels and sustain its margin profile while scaling its deposit base.
